1970 Schwinn Stingray

Admin Note:  Stock green color alone would not positively ID this as a Pea Picker.  Serial JF would be Oct 1970, possibly sold as a 71.

Found this bike on the side of the road. Had a sting ray green frame painted all green.Actually the whole bike was painted green. Serial # JF41076.I was on a budget,so the only thing I spent was the primer, paint, seat post and chain under $50.Painted the frame sky blue, painted the ashtabula fork, neck and v-bar satin black. Femco rims dip in crl and polish it.Looks ok. Painted the rusty cranks silver. Not bad for my first bike I fix up. Still lot to learn.

Re: 1970 Schwinn Stingray

Thanks. Stingrays was little before my time, but my first bike I had was a Tornoda Schwinn. I found this stingray dump side of the road. The bike was painted all green with a spray can.I should have taken I picture before I fix it up. I have the picture of the frame.http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm188/toysfromda70/DSC02610.jpg

No I did not,but I remember greatoutdoors when I was young. My friends and I use to hang out there when we use to freestyle. By then, they change the name to Bikeshop. I remember Kevin Sano and Cris Clifton use to work there. I trying to locate Chris because he might have some old skool bmx parts.

No.I think if I ride my bike I fall off. I remember had a bmx bike group call ABT from Aiea. That was back in the early 80"s. Also this guy use to hang around bike shop all the time. His name is Kevin Sail. Recently I drove by waimalu elementary and couple of guys was freestyling. They did some unreal tricks. My time I think frestyle was just started up. serval tricks was the miami hoppers, cherry pickers like that.
