Re: 1982 Kuwahara Laserlite

Nice, I'm working on a Laserlite (83) myself. Not trying to put it back to orig specs though, but very close with the same, or as good/nearly as good parts. I did get too many NOS parts, seeing as how it's going to be a rider, but nothing wrong with it looking good too. I can't wait to get mine done. Should be very soon. I only bought the frame/forks about a month ago, so it's been going pretty quick already, just need to get spokes & nipples, and lace up the hoops, and it's go time.

Good job!

That was my inspiration as well, pretty much. I used to drool over the Kuwi's and the Kuwi Ad's in the mags BITD. I wanted one pretty bad, but was saving for a dirt bike. So, I made due with what I had. Once I got the dirt bike, and also started driving.. then sadly I pretty much never looked back at BMX bikes.

Re: 1982 Kuwahara Laserlite

Dude, that looks almost identical to my Kuwi!  Pads and everything.  One difference is the cranks - when my 3-piece broke, I replaced them a set of one-piece CR-MO Kuwahara cranks.  Seems a little like going backwards, but they never creaked and they never broke.  I got my Kuwi down out of the attic the other day and have decided to go ahead and restore it.  All the bearings have seized up, but other than that, it's in good shape.  Thanks for the inspiration.  Also, if you ever decide to sell yours, let me know.  I have a buddy who bought one the same time I did and his ended up getting stolen.  He might be interested...

Re: 1982 Kuwahara Laserlite

It's a shame that bike was destroyed by the freight company Danny, was looking forward to receiving it as a trade for the '07 Laserlite that I sent you. However it's been 3 months now, when are you going to pay me for it?????????????????mad
