1982 Tahoe Racing
1982 Tahoe Racing
Tahoe was only in existence a little over a year in Minnesota so the frames were not widely distributed.
Being from Duluth Minnesota meant that I had to travel 150 miles one way to race on the weekends. In 1979 Team Tremco was born and had the hot Minnesota riders racing on Robinson frame and forks supporting the Green and white colors. Their presence on and off the track was known, even by this shy kid from up North.
1981 that turned into Team Rondo racing on Hutch frame & forks with Jack Doherty handling the promotions of the team. Scott Clark was a member of the team.
By late 1982 Jack started Tahoe since he liked the name of Chevy Tahoe trucks. The combination of the Robinson/Hutch frame & forks became the Tahoe. The tubular brace distinguished the Tahoe from the rest and the blue, white, and green color combination. The fork was as close as a Robinson that you could get as the frame & forks were made by TrackMaster.
By 1984 Jack decided to head to Phoenix and sold the company to the Taylor's from Indiana. They continued to make the Tahoe's but included a mini and newly designed 24" cruiser frame. These are distinguished by a hole in the rear dropouts vs. the solid Minnesota ones.
Just thought I would share some Midwest BMX history.

Re: 1982 Tahoe Racing
the Tahoe name came from my fathers love of skiing in Lake Tahoe.
If you look closely at the stickers the Tahoe is snow covered
