That's gonna look tight when it's done. I like the mags and tires.

Re: 1982 Diamondback

Thanks Brother...rest of her parts are on the way. As you already saw, I just picked up my dream DG, which is also on the site(under much emotional dispute as I see it) ...so this one is for sale!!! Frame and fork are survivor...all else is NOS! Always loved how a Diamond Back II SS rode, really like the geometry of them.

Yeah, my senior pro is quiet, smooth, and quick. They have a nice design and feel to them. I like how they angled the seat to lay back naturally. Way more comfortable than my goose. Good luck on the sell!

Got the same tyres on my 1983 SS, you should keep this baby once finished as you will only regret it if you sell it.

Re: 1982 Diamondback

Shiva...I agree wit ya, but I've gotta free up some space for some future builds. The DG is next up...but I've got a 78-80 Powerlite I'm going to start on as soon as it gets here too! You know...I researched the tires, and it turnes out that Tioga is using the original Mitsuboshi molds that were used for the original Comp III's. They actually have the Mitsuboshi name on them when you look at them and do say CompIII on the side walls as well. I'd still like to get a hold of a set of CompII's though...

Nope...haven't sold it yet. I haven't even had the time to finish it yet. Far as I can tell, all of the stickers are original. Almost made a total show bike outta this one...glad I changed my mind, because it would have been re-dipped and stickered.

Re: 1982 Diamondback

yeah  and ill tell ya  you probly wont find those gold black ones   i couldent    that guy i talked about said the blue and gold were only used by factory riders  And the black that we both have only lasted one year   supposedly the first year of the DBII which is what i asume these are . Also  my frame has the original rear brake which is also gold    I would love to see what this looked like new

Re: 1982 Diamondback

Have to agree with 79Supergoose after some research if it has the Black/Gold Decals it is a very rare early SilverStreak before they were actually promoted as a Silver Streak, they were just known as Diamondback II.  they go for top dollar in the UK.
What's the Serial no. on it and I can research it a bit more if you want

mine is  1L0204
but  mine may be rare but my gussets are a disaster    even though i was told when i bought this frame  NO DING NO PING NO PANGS usuall  BS  ...gussets are dented severly with pings to boot   and after really stickin my eye to it there  slitely startin to crack at the corner of the diamond <>-  like so.... real small  but there   so really wont ride it much.

BUT the frame did have the complete cranks  with diamond cutouts in the   pedals  also with DIAMOND BACK stamped in them but half wore off . Also the original gold rear  brake matching the decal

i have stuck as many DB parts that i could get my hands on anyway

DB Seat  newer but sleek lookin with a snake skin patten in it
DBSeat clamp stamped db and diamond back
DB bars stamped Diamond back chromoly
db stem the one that kinda looks like a snakes head
db forks come to find there newer style with smaller diamond cutout  but i like em put repo decals on em anyway
db grips  say DBDBDBDB   all over em
Oh and have what i think is original chain  but thats gonna need a lot more work before it can go on

As for my S#  to me it looks like #204  just over the first batch of 200  but i really dont know that just  a guess

Re: 1982 Diamondback

Sounds like you have one on the first silver streaks ever made, shame about the condition.

Have you got any pics of it?

Re: 1982 Diamondback

Very nice I have seen the picture of the F&F but not the whole bike, you've built it up well.

How did you get it so shiny did you use Oxalic or did you get it rechromed.
Having trouble sourcing oxalic over her in Jersey C.I, really want to get some to put some chrome in it and see what it does with my own eyes.

Re: 1982 Diamondback

All right, so I still have this one and she's near complete. I'll post some new pics soon. Hope you guys like how she turned out. Planning to ride this one by Summer.
