2007 SE Racing P.K. Ripper
2007 SE Racing P.K. Ripper
Trying to build the best, latest, most cutting edge looptail PK with this build. Pushing the envelope of BMX innovation, while trying to keep the components as American made as possible.
Just finished the build a couple weeks ago. Frame was originally from a 07' complete, but had slag in the frame. SE dealer sold me another frame cheap, swapped em and the slag fell out of this one.
Parts:

HAha, people love to hate on the fuji/SE stuff. I could never afford one bitd. My first bike was a huffy Stu Thompson. Po kids didnt ride SE's unless they were sponsored. Im just glad, SE is still around, now that I can afford them. Maybe people should be hating on Devitt, for selling us out to foreigners. Fuji are just oppurtunists, wouldnt you have bought SE if had the chance and money? Cant blame fuji for seizing the day. Besides, I find it a bit odd, that the museum seperates the two. I mean if your going to do that, you might as well differentiate, the Breithaupt years, from the Devitt years too. As each generation has been different. Is a redline still a redline, even tho Kastan sold out to SBS, and their now made in Taiwan? Sign of the times my friend. Maybe we should be upset with our countrymen, and Govt who continue to sell us out! Heh, and we wonder why our currency is rajulio hector de la hondo, and no one can get a job right now. So who exactly is the bad guy here?

Re: 2007 SE Racing P.K. Ripper
Why explain? PROFILE RYDER must have come home drunk and got on the computer. He was crapping all over the Mongoose bikes this morning too.
I dig all things SE. Old or new, doesnt matter. Cool bike! ![]()

Re: 2007 SE Racing P.K. Ripper
LOL ,Its not hard to crap on New School Mongooses ,I dont drink more than 5/7 times a year either ....And this Fuji didnt have a single comment prior to me , And I was not cracking on the bike , "Its A Nice Fuji" /SE ,Whatever ,You kids got deeper issues than this bike, lol ... I'm just messing around with you all a little ,But I will stick to my guns about NewSchool Mongoose being junk.I've only broke two frames my whole life 1-Mongoose / 2-SE Asassin(FUJI)...
You all can ask anyone in here if they Prefer Pre-Fuji or Fuji ,They will tell you "PRE" , Now Fuji would win if you put it up against Mongoose ,Later on...

Re: 2007 SE Racing P.K. Ripper
I would have to agree about mongoose. Im pretty sure the asassin was the Devitt years, I havent seen it in the production line post Fuji. Fwiw the original PK looptails were notorious for cracking bitd. Im still a kid at heart, but Im 31 and old enough to remember the 80's, as I was riding by 82'. Always wanted a Pk looptail, but dont trust 20+ yo Al frames. Great for collecting and looking at tho. I always thought the assassin was junk.... I guess whichever SE generation you look at they all had flaws somewhere.

Oh, and thanks struckby99! Your mongoose pro looks pretty nice, dont think theyre selling that particular one at Walmart. Had a mongoose nickel plated frame bitd, dont know which model never had the decals when I got it.

Of all the companies to own SE Racing, Fuji's not that bad of a name. I worked in a shop for over 10 years, watched GT and Schwinn go from some of the nicest all around bikes made to being Pacifics with different stickers, watched diamondback teeter then get picked up by Raleigh, watched more than 50% of the BMX companies of my youth go out of business, the fact that you can still get an SE is pretty cool. Sure, they're not the handmade in the US frames they used to be, but not much is anymore. Nice build BTW...
Looking for Odyssey Power Paws grips, 90-93 PK Ripper F/F, polished, 80-84 PK Ripper F/F, TNT HWA Fong Daddy F/F w/ chainstay mounted 990's...

Re: 2007 SE Racing P.K. Ripper
I agree the Bike/build is sick..........you can't hate on bmx roots. Se is Super deep rooted in bmx obviously. This bike shows it!!!!! Nothing wrong with keeping the name alive in my eyes.
Mongoose sold out ages ago to depatment stores.... now if that were to happen to se I would have to hate!!

Re: 2007 SE Racing P.K. Ripper
Thanks for the good words guys. Ive currently got a few projects in the works, and a couple almost finished. Will be adding them all to the museum. Especially, my 78' redline proline, 97' floval flyer, 07 24" Kuwahara, and 94' aquamarine elf XL doublecross.
Oh yeah, this baby is: #PK07-417.

Re: 2007 SE Racing P.K. Ripper
Im not a welder, and really only know a few very basic things. That said, when you weld, sometimes, the welds drip, what drips off is slag. On this bike, the slag had fallen inside the tube, and it wasnt rattling around til I got it, and rode on it. SE definitely made it right tho. It was a pretty minor issue, still shouldnt be any slag in the tubing tho. After I broke it down, I eventually rattled it through the bottom bracket. Looked like a large BB(like BB's you shoot). Another happy SE customer.
Now, if they could just stop calling road bikes, " "PK rippers" ". ![]()
Oh thanks for the compliment man.
