1986 Kastan Mini 24"

Linn Kastan, of Redline fame, engineered many great bicycles.
This one happens to be a mini cruiser, which means it was built for smaller riders, and has 24" wheels, probably 24 by 1 3/8ths usually..little things like built in seatpost clamp make this one super nice.
yes, the design was later recalled.

Re: 1986 Kastan Mini 24"

guys, when you see a bike submitted under the username "guest", it's a bike/frame submitted by gary (site administrator) that he found on the net (he doesn't own it).  a guest can not submitt a bike to the museum.  gary does this for referance, so we have examples of as many bikes as possible.  it's kind of hard to buy bikes from "guest", as most of the owners of these bikes don't know there here. sad

Re: 1986 Kastan Mini 24"

Hey guys Kastans were not around in 1986, they were released in 1989. Also, the strut on that Kastan was a later version released after the recall on the originals. You can tell this by the gusset inside the neck tube, the early struts didn't have these so they tended to snap at the lower neck bearing cup.

Re: 1986 Kastan Mini 24"

Oh man does this bring back the old BMX days sad .Ya Kastanbmx01 is right that is one of the newer ones after the recall. I had the same one but it was the older one with out the reinforcement in the neck tube plus they changed the color scheme on the sticker kit as well. Man that thing was light and was really fast. She never let me down in a race. Lol I always was asked why did u cut the other half of the fork off and how did u do that and when I told them that's how it comes I had to help them pick up there jaw lol oh the good old days.
