1984/5 Raleigh Team Burner

Iconic british race BMX

I was never a big fan of the burner back in the day but looking back on them now they were such a big part of British BMX history, I can remember at least 6 of my mates racing them whilst I was on my Mongoose, so when I had chance of grabbing such an original example I just couldnt resist. This bike still has Raleigh brake blocks on her and the original Berkshire bike sales sticker on the seat tube. Im not stripping this bike just treating the worst bits and keeping her as she is. As far as I can see it's an 84/85 Team Raleigh but im not really a Raleigh expert so any comments would be gratefully accepted. Thanks alot.

Re: 1984/5 Raleigh Team Burner

Nice find, this is one of the few Burners that actually burns - Ouch! These bikes were a bit overlooked in their day overshadowed by the bigger names in bmxing, when you actually look at them today (in real life) they look way ahead of their time, far more futuristic than some other makers bikes around this time. They will still look good in another 25 years. This is so close to mine apart from a few bits. I would not strip it down either, mine had to be as it was a little worse for wear. Well done and as Shivadread says "Ride it like you stole it"
