Re: 1983 Skyway T/A

Thanks Caleb....Like I said in other thread, It has been hard as heck not to post progress pics. There are seven components that are not even pictured going on this build that are just sick...real sick....I built the lower end tonight. As soon as I find a seat post (Hutch lay back) she will be complete. Wife and are going to Rockford in June. I believe I am going to take the TA with us. We'll see. My favorite part of bike is the Tange 125 LP headset with the mirror finish early Tuf Neck stem. or is it the profile cranks(TI spindle and TI bitchin bolts) with Hutch Pro Bear Trap pedal????

Re: 1983 Skyway T/A

I really like those cranks!

BTW, why go Hutch parts on this TA? Seems Hutch stuff is kinda out of control. A layback post for $200+ is too much for me.

Re: 1983 Skyway T/A

200 for that post is a bit too much. the guy who is high bidder now deserves it. I was going to snipe that one but another bidder kept pushing the high bidder now, bid even higher...so what did I do, pushed it up too 200. Honestly, I didnt think the guy had that much into his highest bid. I really wanted that post. I would be willing to bet that post goes for over 300 before its over. Parting that bike out is going to fetch him some serious cash

Re: 1983 Skyway T/A

smile

I didn't go look at the sticker until just now.

Umm, that's the old GT logo, but no wings. . . so my prediction is whenever the first freestylers started coming out, that greenish block square behind the "GT" is like from a preformer or whatever.

Re: 1983 Skyway T/A

Thanks Sylor..you seem to be the only one seeing this beauty. I have searched a few bmx sources on the internet with parts list. BUT.......I CAME TO BMX MUSEUM FOR ALL MY KNOWLEDGE AND FOR THE MOST PART ALL QUESTIONS ARE ASWERED. i JUST FIGURED WITH ALL THE KNOWLEDGE HERE SOME ONE COULD SAY "YEA THOSE ARE 85 FREESTYLE". Guess not on this one. There is alot of knowledge here thats why I ask. maybe I will try OS , trow some pics up and see who comes to plate for me. Thank you guys though for the try. Oh and say;or, in 85 , I had completely given up on bikes and until now didnt know a whole lot about freestyle

Re: 1983 Skyway T/A

ya me either - I got a car in 1986,, I never got into F/S either... then in about 91 I got another BMX bike, then in 93 had kids . . .so I'm not real 'up' on that timeframe either hmm

good luck bro - someone sooner or later will go 'o ya those are an 198X blah blah.." or whatver.

Re: 1983 Skyway T/A

Great job on the skyway. To use tear drop tubing then was so different and turned out to be so strong. Good to see such a fine near period correct example.
