Well Freek....you see.....all bikes using 20" wheels have their drop outs at exactly the same height....    1/2D.

Hutch Fun Facts: All main line Hutch's with digits only S/N (no letters or baseballs) on the rear drop outs were US made and had their dropouts stamped between late '83 and '86.  Obviously the frame manufacture would occur slightly after that, even if they just threw 'em in a bucket randomly.  There is an obvious date code in that the first 2 digits seem to be the month and the 3rd digit is pretty obviously the last digit of the year running from '83-'86.

In my 33+ years of being in this sport/love/hobby - you know what I have never seen with a Hutch Trick Star?!?

A photo of someone actually using those built-in front knobby all too short of pegs on the fork! LOL

I actually used them bitd. U pretty much had no choice since they were too close to the axles to add pegs. Unlike the Haros where u could use both. But it's the rear platforms I never used.

Trick Stars had superior geometry for the time.
The only one I've owned is in Edmonton. For a while, it was hanging up at United Cycle.

Actually... TRICKSTAR II's  have the Exact Same Geometry as The Trickstar... Despite their Differences in appearance.

Re: Does anyone really own a Trick Star ?

I was given a Trick Star back in 2009.  I told the guy I couldn't take it but he insisted.  I told him I'll keep it, ride it, maybe break it but it's his whenever he wants it back.

ride your bike until it breaks.

Re: Does anyone really own a Trick Star ?

I was close to actually owning a JDB Trick Star, but IMO the current version has too many flaws. Fork pegs clearance issue, no cable guide on the fork, 13.8 rear, etc. Compared to the 2017 Flatland Master, which is a well-thought out frameset.

Splatter paint looks great.  Looks 100x better than any other TS I've ever seen; gold plated or not.

Re: Does anyone really own a Trick Star ?

Well maybe one.

It's just a hair different now.  I swapped out the stem for a nice chrome Western H and I traded the VDC Made Woody Bars for a regular set of Hutch Woody bars to some GJS ridin' dude.

Rides real nice Clark...
