Re: The "Official Unofficial Schwinn Predator" Thread

Had this 88 Freeform Pro since June and just started the wild goose chase to built it.  Started as a frame and fork only and I now have the correct YO48 wheels, correct deluxe seat, blue YO stem, correct blue/white brake levers.  I took some liberties and added a predator fluted layback post because I HATE straight posts...and I added a white Haro CR-MO crank.  Ignore the generic 48's in the mock up shot....
Still need:
--correct YOrbital pedals
--blue YO chain wheel
--correct blue/chrome bars
--rear 990 YO brake
--front NIPPON

Yes that's another one I need! That’s in the ‘83-‘84 family right?

The pads were different for each year, the '83 monster pad came in red, blue or black and had the small one color (white) monster logo and the '84 came in black only and had the large multi color monster logo... Check out the accessories on the previous page and you will see the 2 different pads...

Yeah that's right. I have an'83 black one (handle bar) w/the small white logo that I use for riding when I have the mags on my cruiser and a couple '84 w/the large colored monster logo that I show with. It's that frame pad that will be the end of me...along w/ the down tube decal.

Re: The "Official Unofficial Schwinn Predator" Thread

Pads are getting harder and harder to find these days... Any og pads... Any brand... Porkchop has some decent padsets for cheap... I just spent less than $50 and got 4 complete sets from there... I wanted a set of "chrome" pads, but they were still $30, so I just started making my own...

Finally finished this 83 crmo free! (Except for grips) nothing new, just everything it came with.  Brought it back from the dead.  Dirty, and rusty to nice and shiny.  Only thing it could use is a new set of tires since the originals on here are all cracked and falling apart from sitting totally deflated for 20 plus years.  It's has been sitting in an old couples shed in Minnesota since their son parked it there over 20 years ago.  Completely, cleaned, derusted, repacked and finally put back together.  This is my first Predator and I was just going to clean it up and part it but as I got going I started to really like it!  The more I worked on it the more I realized that this is a pretty damn good looking bike!  I think I'll keep it after all!  It even holds its own with the GT in the back ground

Now I got to get this one up and running.

Forgot that it came with this pad.  http://uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/248512/20180113_2306525a5ad7bf50.jpg
Question, did they come with this rad pad or was this pad an aftermarket add on?
