1976 CYC Stormer in nickel

This bike was left on my porch the other day..
I literally dont know ANYTHING about it.
seems to have had bent huffy forks on it. Nickel finish. No serial numbers at all.
Funky dropouts for something to bolt onto? perhaps a banana seat?
thanks to whoever droppped it off! now who can name it?
thanks fella's, look like we solved this one, its a 1976 CYC Stormer in nickel
yes, it was held together with duct tape...ahaha

Randy,do you have any more info on that?I've seen single gusset CYCs from around '75 or '76.I have a "77,and it's the same as the older ones except the gusset.so how old is that thing?

Re: 1976 CYC Stormer in nickel

hrumm, , I had a stormer , , ,going to go find the pics.  . . .

if it is an EARLY stormer (1975 (?) 76ish?) - then it's an Ames (?) or a Pedal Power (?) perhaps?

Re: 1976 CYC Stormer in nickel

Hey saylor,I'm the guy who got your CYC.it's a '77.And I t looks nothing like this frame, but the Ames came out in '78,and has no gusset at all. This frame has nothing in common with my '77,from the loop tail to the single gusset,to the chainstays to the brake[fender?]bracket.Help us,Randy!

Re: 1976 CYC Stormer in nickel

Here's Rielleys(Rick). I think they were all chrome when first sold. I sold one on ebay a few years ago, I'll see if I can find the picture. If anyone has the BMX News CD it's the same as the one they tested. I have the issue at home, it was probably late 75 or early 76.

Re: 1976 CYC Stormer in nickel

hmmm,
I was thinking of just adding it to the late 70's part of the pyshical museum.
I still plan to have an actual museum one day..
I may even just set it up for a month somewhere, would be very helpful to organize all this stuff.
For now, it goes on thew pile, with the other 275+ bike frames..

I may be wrong but CYC made a single gusset in 75-76,also that frame has the holes for a sissy bar mount holes on the rear dropouts.

Re: 1976 CYC Stormer in nickel

An Ames??  LOL!!! hardly... The ames was a pedals ready which evolved into the GT standard w/ euro BB, and looks nothing like the above. The above is all mild steel and is a 75-76. I think in 77 they came out with the MX then the MXR which was a tri- chomoly an mild steel back half.

Re: 1976 CYC Stormer in nickel

Man I wish the "junk fairy" would leave me a classic on my porch! I've been good all year (yes, ok it is only febuary) but I have been good! What do ya gota do, knock your front teeth out on a plywood and old tire jump? Place them in your cal lite tuff neck pad and put them under the welcome mat to score like this? Total gold man, 70's gold!big_smile
