Re: New Jersey Ruff 'N' Rad Vintage BMX show / swap Sunday September 17th

Thank you for posting KeithD!  The event last year was a great successl!!  This year we would like to try something different.  We will still categorize the entered bikes in rows as last year.  Judging will be based head to head in 2 main categories (Vintage race and Vintage freestyle separated by years)  with a final trophy for best in show.  There will be no numbers for the bikes.  We would like entered bikes to have a write up or display board with Make, model, year and restored, unrestored, nos or any needed information.  We hope entrants see this as a way of telling their bikes story.  Could be..."I started with a Jamesway Team Murray..swapped out with new GT components starting in 1984.  Finally finished with a xmas gift frame and forkin 85.  Stolen in  1988.  Started building again with nos parts in 2001.  The same replica....etc" (yes that is one of my stories).  In the past at Brian P's entered bikes like Brian Britts come to mind...he put as much effort in to his presentation as his bike...we would love to see more of that as well.  Sheryl's Den sincerely thanks all that attended last year.  You all went above and beyond for a great cause.  Many rescue dogs are in need of medical attention which depletes funds.  You helped and it is greatly appreciated.

I love this concept! I have only attended two shows and participated in one. I found it odd there wasn't anything attached to the bikes with the year, make and model of the bike and a breakdown of its components. I brought a photo album of my bike with pics of the restoration process and set it near my bike, kind of what they do at car shows.

The bikes are displayed by catagory and date reference. We don't display biographies of the entries

I was in AFA competition from 85-86 in PA. I was a really good flatland rider and hit a mean 540 AIR on the pipe. Back then, that was bad ass.  Stay Rad.....

So I'm assuming cruisers will be lumped into the race category?

Talking to Chip to see if he wants to come up with me.  I might have to come out of hiding.

Might show my raggedy old P.O.S. bike too.  Not sure if people are sick of seeing it yet.  neutral
