Re: 1983 Kuwahara E.T.
well if you look at the front gusset i would say its a cheap et wallmart bike
the original is a looptail frame whit dubbel gusset plates
Is it a Plane ? is it a bmx ? is it a Robinson ? No its a Pro winner..............

I am not worried

Re: 1983 Kuwahara E.T.
It's a Japanese-made frame all the same, and the "real" ones were hi-tensile steel too.
As someone else mentioned in another thread it's still a great piece of history, maybe even rarer to see than the looptails nowadays.
You can read about the model here: http://web.archive.org/web/200509132245 … ry/et.html
Unfortunately the pics are gone on this archive page, the original site has been down a while now.

Re: 1983 Kuwahara E.T.
It is an Apollo ET.
They were the Department Store bikes sold with Kuwahara stickers to meet market demand so kids that couldn't afford the real Looptail ET's could still buy one.
The proper Kuwahara Loop tail models of which there were 2 types (Replica and Original) were sold in bike shops only.
So it isn't a true Kuwahara, but a marketing exercise to make money on the back of ET mania.
The Apollo ones are worth probably a quater the value of either of the Looptail Kuwahara's.
Most of the info on the ET's warn people about the Apollo ET's so they don't get caught thinking they are getting a real Kuwahara ET and get ripped off.
Nice bike and collectable and looks good too.
Check out the link in the above post as is does mention all of this. The photo's aren't there anymore but the TOY store/Department store bike is the Apollo ET

Re: 1983 Kuwahara E.T.
There is a Kuwahara ET for sale on E-bay like this one, it's Item 320311265732.
Don't get caught guys, it's the CHEAP CRAP APOLLO ET the mild steel Department Store Bike.
The guy is asking $1650 and its pretty knocked around with the wrong Tires, grips, stem and pedals.
Probably strugle to make $300 or so dollars unless somone is sucked into thinking it's the real deal.

According to the E-Bay listing he's asking $1650 BIN.
Here's the heart of my E.T. project.
It's about 60% done.
Note the double gusset and looptail.
