Some interesting info in there ^^

Yes very interesting... my TT is 19.5... would be sweet to see one with decals. A couple guys said they had powder blue. Maybe a VDC rider needed a frame and decaled it a QL with VDC decals at the track just before a race??? Good stuff guys.

It does look really close to a older Quickline. Subscribed!

Is it me or does anyone else see a VDC/GJS/BigTube type theme going on here?! (downtube looks pretty fat as well as the forks)

No, it has been mentioned earlier in the post. It definitely is a very cool frame with many possibilities. Keep it coming fellows.

I had a member chime in via PM and he was certain it wasn't a Quickline.

Can you check the tube sizes. They look like 1 1/4 top and a massive 1 1/2 downtube. I just cant see the serial-can you show a clear pic of the left drop again.
All I can think of is a batch of Robinsons made mid 80s that didnt meet spec so were sold off as something else. For example the weld shop that had the contract didnt have the right tube bender for the rear end so frames came out wrong, so Chuck refused to pay & went elsewhere for, so they were stuck with a batch of frames. They then sold em off cheap to shops or others who stickered them up with whatever they could to sell to the public.

I have seen a very similar frame, also unidentified, here in Australia-I cant find it but it was on the Aussie bmx forum 3-4 years back. Same colour too.

In the meantime Id ride it and show it around wherever I could-its a great example of bmx history from 1985ish.

I measured the top and downtube.. like you said. 1 1/4 top and 1 1/2 downtube

Re: 1980 Robinson Decaled as VDC

Question, what other early 80's to 85 frames used a 1.5 inch top or downtube? I had an 85 Robby Expert with fat tubes but I don't think they were 1.5.
