1981 Mongoose Kos Kruiser 26
This is my friend John's '81 Kos Kruiser we just finished. It took us about a year to find all the parts.<br>
<br>
John found this bike on Craigslist listed as an 80's Redline cruiser. After studying the picture he determined that is was indeed a KOS and swooped on it the next day. The bike was set up as a multi-speed with some cool sturmey archer hubs and some nice cranks, and the DX pedals. After the restore the Kos ended up with the following:
* Mongoose Kos Kruiser F/F & Bars Ame Grips
* Tioga Beartrap II Headset
* Mongoose Gold Stem
* Dia- Compe MX-1000 Brakes
* Takagi Cranks/Spyder Chainwheel
* Shimano DX Pedals
* 26" Araya 7x W/Suzue High Flange Flip-Flop hub
* Comp III Style Tires
* Blue Fluted Post
* ACS Seat Clamp
* Aero Seat
* Mongoose Pad Set

This is a thing of beauty. God if only new school 26" chrome cruisers were on the bmx market...it wouldn't be such a travesty to envy all the old school polished bikes.
The effort to building it up paid off for you and your buddy. Looks sweet.

Very cool bike.
Would like a 24" o 24" cruiser for my next bike.
Thinking about a Raleigh Bomber, Mongoose Two Four or Mongoose Kos Kruiser.
Although, the Mongoose bikes might be difficult / expensive to find in the UK!

I see it had stock gears before...was it easy to convert to single speed? Was there a big gap to deal with? Nice work!
