1979 SE Racing STR-1 Stu Thompsen Replica

This is my 4th Stu Thompsen replica build. I tried to get as close as possible and also had a number plate hand made like Haro would have done BITD thanks Michael!. Also all og finishes as per La Rock

This is a mild steel very early version of a quadangle before STU went over to Redline.

Re: 1979 SE Racing STR-1 Stu Thompsen Replica

Hello, I thought you might like to know that I once owned the very first mild steel prototype STR-1. I bought it from Stu himself in 1978. It had the cradled bottom bracket, which did not make it into production. Stu told me that it was too hard to bend the long tubes, and that the bb area was prone to crack and that there were 3 or 4 others, I think they made a total of 9 of the prototypes and some were destroyed after they found out about the cracking problem. My story has been publicly verified here by SE and is accepted as truth, which it is.

For a long time people thought the cradled bb STR-1 was a myth but I am here to tell you that it is not a myth.
