So, needless to say, these will be going on the shelf 'til I figure out a way to straighten the crank arm without damaging it... Maybe some heat and a vise... Or 'til I find a replacement 165mm arm for CHEAP (I already have $65 invested)... I don't know... Just kinda bummed over the whole thing...

Too bad about the arm. I'm in for the crank arm/paperclip thread lol

For future reference use "Tech tip #101" for cleaning crank resin:  insert bicycle spoke , twist and scrape side to side, pull out gooey resin. Dispose of properly.

Re: My current build thread...

So I got the SR cranks sanded and painted... big_smilebig_smilebig_smile  Just waiting on some custom decals from "rcsnipe2000" and a coat or 2 of clear and they will be ready... big_smilebig_smilebig_smile  I am almost done with the chainring as well, just another coat on the pin stripe is all I need to do then some final clean up and it should look nice...

Re: My current build thread...

So I bought this DB frame from "IRIEAZ" a few weeks ago and it needed some TLC... The issue was a cracked and welded seat post mast... With a little patience and a file, I got the seat post to go in and the welded crack was not very big so I can live with it the way it is, just have to mount the clamp a little closer to the top tube, no biggie... big_smilebig_smilebig_smile

I had to remove those decals, just not my style... I was originally going to paint it black, as I have a set of black DB HLT forks for it, but the yellow is powdercoat and still VERY nice, so it's staying yellow... Going to do a CUSTOM decal job on it that should look cool... coolcoolcool  Gonna mock it up first with some parts I have laying around... HERE WE GO!!! lollollol

Re: My current build thread...

Alright, the seat post clamp and seat post are installed... Gotta look around for a headest, see if I can cobble this thing together before the night is over... lollollol  Most of my available parts are black, red and silver/chrome, so this should look alright with the decal job I have in mind for this... cool

Re: My current build thread...

OK boys and girls, I put this thing together in a hurry, it's just a mock up for now anyway...I do need a headset, the one that's in it isn't right, but will work for now... I already have some changes in mind, and "Bud" and I are consulting now, so I'm sure some more things will change before it's all said and done... lollollol

Re: My current build thread...

Bud Skully looks like he has a lot on his mind! It will soon be time to clean out more of that crank resin, looks to have some mild cloggage going on, Bud can't think straight  like that! Nice detail work on those SR cranks! Are they going on the Diamondback?

OK kids, I received a 1979 Schwinn Mag Scrambler from my good buddy Troy, aka "Thetrooper", just paid him for shipping and he HOOKED me up once again!!! ThanXXX Bro!!! big_smilebig_smilebig_smile  Anyway, gonna build this one with the parts off my Ross Snapper, some of the parts that came with it and some other stuff I have around here... If you've seen any of my ground up builds, you already know it will be a mix of parts from different eras... big_smilebig_smilebig_smile  Here's what Troy sent me... coolcoolcool

I can hardly wait to start tearing the Ross down... Going to clean the frame and parts as I build... That's pretty much the norm for me... big_smilebig_smilebig_smile  Can't wait to add another Schwinn to my collection... big_smile
