1985 GT Mach One
1985 GT Mach One
Origial GT that I bought for my 16th birthday with upgraded parts.
I bought this bike in January of 1986 for my 16th birthday. Broke it down and wrapped it up for storage in 1989 when I shipped out to RTC Orlando for my tour in the Navy. Sat in my parents garage attic until 2003, followed me to San Diego for three years then to Denver in 2006, still packed up in the box. Broke it out last week to check the condition, only light surface rust on the frame, forks, and seat post. Those parts are going to be cleaned up and polished, new stickers if they cannot be saved. Will become a rider again as I have kids that will be getting into bikes in the next few years. Updated pics when it returns.
Old bikes need love too, get them off the carpet and ride!

Re: 1985 GT Mach One
Well decided to go riding this weekend with other people from the forum in my area so I put her together. I've been getting some parts to restore the old gal to a race bike instead of hybrid race/freestyle. Still waiting for some blue Ukai rims and chrome Suzie hubs so I can put the Pergrine 48's on an 86 GT PFT f/f that I recently purchased. Then the last item will be finding the pads that came with it originally.
So here she is, still needs to be cleaned up real good but ridable. The only glitch was when taking the rear axle apart to regrease the bearings I discovered that the axle is bent. ![]()

Hope the LBS has one that will work!
