1995 S&M Challenger

My Mid/Old/New School Race Rip-

Found this trans red gem listed on Craigslist in Austin TX (I'm in Rhode Island) and the seller absolutely would not box and ship it- I found a member on here, robinson79, who picked it up, boxed it, and UPS'd it. He absolutely rocks!!!
It was kind of a mess parts wise when it showed up. What I ended up keeping and using were, the frame/forks, orig 1st gen challenger stem, 7x hoops, seat clamp, profiles and spider. That's it-
I wanted a mid school/ new school build that I could race, so here's how it turned out...
-S&M Challenger XL Frame, Trans Red Over Chrome, Original Chopper Headtube Decal- 21" TT.
-Challenger Forks
-1st Gen Challenger Stem
-Chris King Headset
-S&M 9" Race Bars
-A'me grips
-Dia-Compe Tech 3 Lever (love me my tech 3s...have since the 80s!)
-Critical Racing Canti Brakes
-Araya 7xs laced to GT Sealed Race Hubs
-Crupi Frame Savers
-Generic old layback seatpost
-ACS seat clamp
-Sella Italia Plastic Race Seat
-177mm Profile Box Cranks w/ no sticker indent, and larger sprocket boss. 3rd-4th generation transition??
- Sugino 44t on Profile Spider
-Suntour XCII Pedals
-White Industries Freewheel
-Cheap Kenda Comp 3 knockoffs
This bike is so comfortable to ride, it's unbelievable!! I'm 6'3", and was really afraid it would feel tiny. It fits perfect. I might try some shorter bars for racing. The 9"s are great for ripping around the neighborhood, but not so great for clearing doubles!
It's great at the race track, everyone over 40 comes up and wants to talk about the bike, all the young kids look at me like they have no idea what I'm riding. I'm the terror of the 46-50 Inter Class!!
