1978 Bennett Maxi-X

Rarer than rare 2o" Cruiser

Brand new out of box but over 30 years old. I have just purcased this NOS Bennett from a retired bike shop owner who assures me he bought the bike in the mid to late seventies. It has never been on the showroom floor.I have never seen or heard of one before. It looks a lot like a Moosegoose but seems to pre-date it.The main frame is tubular steel. It has Sugino one piece cranks, Dia Comp brakes,Cheng Shin tyres MX seat(similar to Kashimax) and a chro mo "Win" headstem. It is great to ride as I an 180cm tall.Looking to upgrade to some gold Araya's (hint hint) Any info or comment welcome. Hey nice score Dough!
I was watching it on ebay, did u pick it up from Stewart in Paramatta? I reckon u should leave it as its pretty much how it was sold to you from the bike shop, ur not going to find another one in this condition, right? Is it stamped with where it was made? Certainly does have that moosey look. Just ride it and enjoy! cool

I think it did come from Parramatta. I have just put on a Suntour holeshot gear setup and a gold Suntour seat clamp for some extra bling. Hopefully a couple of extra gold alloy wheels & I will be done. I am keeping all the original parts in case I need to go back to original. It it great to ride & get heaps of looks.

I used to have a red one of these when I was a kid, it was my second bike, the first one I had was a dragster fitted with some BMX parts lol, was nice to ride bike and eventually it got stolen from our backyard haven't seen another one since, cheers thanks for the memories

Re: 1978 Bennett Maxi-X

i had one, it was my first bike and i didn't want it, i wasn't happy with, so i did my best to smash it as hard as i could, it went back to the bike shop, and they gave me a new one, it was an over size BMX, i got mine back in 83 from a bike shop in Newport Victoria Aus.
if i seen that bike on the net, i would have tryed hard to get it, to burn it.

Re: 1978 Bennett Maxi-X

Hate to tell ya dude but they weren't made in 1978.
They are a Moosegoose copy.
Mine has a serial number from 1983 and it is the same bike
