1975 AMF Renegade

70's race bike replica

i bought this bike off of craigslist for $40. i then cleaned up the chrome and gave it a good cleaning. this bike is a blast to ride, it is so easy to pull long wheelies. i ride it to work alot so it's get's it's fair amount of use. original paint and stickers, oringinal ape hangers, original pedals (grip broke off), original rims and fenders, along with cranks, not original tires, and maybe not original seat.  right now i'm going to have to take it a part to clean it because the bearings aren't working right so they scrape and stop, making it hard to ride.

update.  the reason why it wouldn't ride right was that the rear bearing casing practically exploded.  the bearing housing was torn to shreds.

Regrease the bearings. It is very easy to do that should do the trick .

Re: 1975 AMF Renegade

i took the crank off and regreased everything.  it didin't fix it so i think the crank is bent becuase it is only in certain spots.

Re: 1975 AMF Renegade

I had one of those in '75.  Mine came with a black seat with 2 orange stripes running across the back 3/4.

Funny how it looks cool to me now.  As a kid I had a hard time riding it and wanted something more suited to riding trails and jumping.

Nice bike, though.

Re: 1975 AMF Renegade

I like the way it looks now with the regular seat and Hi Bars, but it looks better with the banana seat on it. Should change it back

Re: 1975 AMF Renegade

My 9 year old son just bought this bike today at a swap meet for 25.00. Its his first project bike and he is really excited. Has some rust on the sissy bar and hadles, needs new tires and cranks, chain is rusted. Should look amazing when completed.
