1984 Opalux

Mystery BMX.

if ANYONE has information on this bike please pm me or leave it in the comments. Found on Craigslist in BFN Texas. This bike is cool. No name everything, decals and headbadge say "Opalux", but I cannot find a shred of history about it. The owner said his brother got it back in 84 and it's been in grammas garage forever. Looks like it could be from 1990 even.... Very cool and odd; nice chrome, freewheel with front and back caliper brakes. Appears to have a sealed euro style bottom bracket, and three piece crank. Also has an extremely high quality red/black tiger paint job. I can't wait to get it cleaned up for a ride. 7/21/2015- shined her up and replaced the original bars with repro dyno pretzel bars. Rims have a good bit of wobble but are fast as hell. Put a Goodyear tire on the back, the original rear tire bulged as soon as I put pressure in it. Front seems to ride ok . Original tires say Quangqingpa. Still cannot find a single stamp or number on this bike. It's really light, and I LOVE the paint.

Re: 1984 Opalux

My guess as to its age, based on the cotter pin cranks, would be early 80s... but then they may or may not be OG.
The graphics to me look more late 80s/early 90s, so it a bit of an enigma.
Definitely a good CL score & unique smile
