1983 Mongoose Expert

Resurrected Survivor

This is my 1983 Mongoose Expert. It's a total survivor and had every original part that came on the bike in 1983 when I acquired it about 20 years ago. A family friend was moving and didn't want to bring this with them so, it's been sitting in my attic since I saved it from hitting the dumpster. I recently bought my 5 year old daughter an SE Lil Ripper and that inspried me to pull this thing down and see what I could do with it. It was pretty ugly with lots of light surface rust and old dried up grease and dirt all over it. I spent the last month, bathing parts, steel wooling tough spots and polishing crusty parts and I am blown away by how this bike rose from the ashes. I had to repop a few smalls, like the dia-comp brake line guides, tires and brake pads that I got from Porkchop. Other than those items and a DK XL stem, everything on this bike is exactly what came on this bike when it was new in 83'. Riding this bike is like riding in a time machine!
