Website started MArch 25, 1999, by GAry

Way back when..I wanted to have my own website about something I was passionate about.
I simply wanted to catalog every bmx bike ever, and share the info.

Thank you Gary.

Do you ever think that the museum is responsible for getting people that left bmx years ago back into it? I think it has.

The Museum, IMO, has definitely been the catalyst for the retro bike market and reissue of older OS parts too.

I have friends all over the World because of the Museum.

At the end of the day, this place is always my last stop. The only real improvement I would like to see is in regards to the editing of posts by mods/admin. Please take a look at the topic I started that was closed regarding this. Hopefully you will be able to align with me.

Thanks again for creating the Museum!

Regards,
Billy

Thank you for starting bmxmuseum.com and staying with it all these years.  I found the Museum about 8 months ago when a bought an old freestyle bike like I had bitd and wanted to get some Mushroom grips for it.  I've enjoyed the site so much ever since.  And bought alot more than grips lol  I've belonged to other websites for other hobbies and not only does this website have a great community and marketplace, the level of research and reference is pretty much unmatched.  Especially with how it's layed out.  It's really an amazing site!!  If your goal was to catalog as much BMX as possible you've definitely done so but don't let that slow you down.

I did the coding myself for the first several years,
Later, in 2006 I hired a person to help with the coding. NAte Beaty..

The site has never stopped growing.
It is now my full time gig, and I still happy to spend hours everyday making it better.
I am sure this would not be possible without so much support from you! the members!
99% of the people involved in whatever aspect of the sport are amazing.
There have been many hurdles along the way, and I have learned alot!
My volunteer staff, former and current, have been a HUGE help as well!
Thanks for being a part of my dream!!  GAry

Being totally computer illiterate I am in awe of what you were able to create.  I'd like to see a full GAry interview.  I always enjoy seeing the little snippets of info about creating and running the site.  Prolly won't happen so just know the site is awesome.

Re: Website started MArch 25, 1999, by GAry

I was in awe when I first found this site. It was the classic "kid in a candy store" effect. My first thought was, "One of each, please!" My second thought was whether or not someone had submitted a bike like the one that was stolen from me back in '87. They had! Once I saw it, I realized that my desire to pursue this madness as a hobby was not unusual at all. Some here are even crazier than I am! lol

Thank you for doing this. All of you!

Re: Website started MArch 25, 1999, by GAry

Many thanks to you Gary for creating the museum. I had started getting interested in the sport again after my daughter started showing some interest in BMX bikes. I of course thought that was Awesome and I still had my Haro Sport hanging in the garage. I started looking on eBay and finding some old school stuff and really got the itch to redo or get my old bike lubed up and ride again with my daughter. Well as I was searching the web I found the Museum and Man my interest and passion exploded all over again. Here I am a year and half later and still loving it. Long Live the BMX Museum.
