Re: 1985 Kuwahara Unicycle

Not sure if I'll be able to master something like this or not. Unless of course I get an urge to travel with Barnum and Bailey as one of there side shows! Otherwise, this thing is very unique in my eyes. You just don't see these.

That's awesome! Just need a NOS white haro tire and a set of Shimao DX pedals and you are golden.

Re: 1985 Kuwahara Unicycle

nice!riding this is tricky at best, but I figured out it's the same balance point of a deathtruck, or locomotive glide.get into it,by holding the tire(I was going to say the front tire, lol) tight, and jumping into the thing, leaning your head forward all the time,as to not fall back,of course,do start it,with your pedal foot forward, and start it from at least a 75 degree angle.the control is in your head, hands, and hips,so dont rule out moving your hips a lot while learning,as gay as it looks, lol, anyway, once you get a balance point, you can start pedalling back and forth, which is a way to keep momentum, and to add style points, and if it looks like you are going to fall, always lean fwd, once you master it,you can try scuffing tricks, hopping tricks like switching it underneath you,and even spastic spins similar to the hyperspastic seat grinder motion from 101 tricks part one(by mike loveridge, trick no,99 I think).possibilities are endless, try it!oh,with a mag wheel, you can also invent funky balance tricks, imagine a nourie handstand on this!smile

Re: 1985 Kuwahara Unicycle

You ride this thing like any other BMX bike.  Jumps, drop offs, etc.  Just remember to get life insurance for any loved ones before riding.

Re: 1985 Kuwahara Unicycle

Dude it took me like two and a half weeks, every day, all day to learn how to ride one of those (not a Kuwie by the way). By the end of the summer I had it down pretty good. Then I broke the cranks off it hopping up and down the bleechers at the local high school football game thta fall. Never rode one since....I wonder. That thing is effin Rad!!!!

My local bike mechanic commutes to his shop frequently on one of these.  His has a huge 26 inch wheel on it.
