1975 Yamaha Moto-Bike

Restored 1975 Yamaha Moto-Bike

This Moto-Bike was restored for my friend Tom. He's a motorcycle dealer and collector of vintage bicycles and motorcycles. This bike was purchased at the Barber Vintage Motocycle Festival, literally from beneath the rider it was carrying.

The seat cover was made by my wife with vinyl from a fabric store, I did all of the polishing, re-plating and painting. More information about the restoration can be found here.

Re: 1975 Yamaha Moto-Bike

My father bought me one brand new but I was too young to appreciate it at the time.

Re: 1975 Yamaha Moto-Bike

These bikes always looked like they were before their time to me.

Re: 1975 Yamaha Moto-Bike

This was every 70's kids dream bike if their parents could afford one! Unfortunately mine couldn't and I ended up with a Huffy!

Re: 1975 Yamaha Moto-Bike

Mowed lawns all summer to get one when I was in 5th grade 1975ish.  Got it from the local Yamaha dealer.  Think I had a 74, 3 piece cranks, post seat, yellow forks.  Like many in my hood, sold the BMX stuff to finance skateboard gear arlound 1979 when that was taking off.  Wish I hadn't, but..  so I  just pulled the trigger on an eBay one that looks like a 74-75 frame with 76 forks.  Should be here tomorrow.  Will post photos when it arrives.  Photos from seller listing look very, very good.  Looks way better shape then the welded, re-selded, heavily modified bike I sold to the neighbor.. I had also painted it red and black to match the Honda Elsinore scheme. Will keep the one I just bought as stock as possible other than the obvious mismatch of 3 piece cranks and aluminum bare metal forks.  Should be a little lighter though like that..

Re: 1975 Yamaha Moto-Bike

Oh, also have a black swingarm on the one arriving tomorrow, probably custom made replacement from previous restoration.  We'll see when I get a close look..  I remember the cranks hitting some of my friends' swingarms back in the day..
