1985 GT Pro Performer
I just restored this one.
Total redo on this one. I bought it as stripped parts from Rich. Thanks, Rich
Took a bit 'o paint and hard work, but it was worth it.
I just added pics of it. Notice what it looked like on Rich's floor before he mailed it out to me. lol.

RealFox . . . big fan of that GT green.
In response to PJ's pics . . . I used to get in trouble for just running through the house. If I did that in the house, the only pics would be of me after the trick with a white chalk line around me after my mom found out!

yeah, i didn't get away with that often. we lived on the oregon coast and sometimes, when mom was out, this was the only biking that i was able to do because of the weather.

Re: 1985 GT Pro Performer
Sure, I used automotive spray paint from Walmart. Don't remember the company name, but it's called: Hotrod Green. Anywho, the primer, paint and clear coat are from the automotive section at Wally-World.
Well..., Rich sanded it down to bare steel before he sent it to me. I usually strip off the paint with that spray stripper from Walmart. It's in the paint section by the sand paper and stuff. I resanded it when I got it, washed it, dried it, primed it (3 coats I believe), painted it (4-5 coats), then I clear coated it (4-5 coats).
I hope this helps. ![]()

Re: 1985 GT Pro Performer
yea fox that performer looks great
the other thing is if your going to paint i bike your self with rattle can
reall take your time lots of light coats may take a few days to do it all but it will turn out nice
but you have to really put your heart into it i have a performer that i painted lots of the parts my self due to the color scheme i was going for but i looked good i ride it all the time and some of the paint has chipped over the YEARS i recently spent some money one some new parts for it yea!!! i will though go over the bike completly i have a freing you does powder coating so i will prob take all the painted parts to him had the bike a while and decided it needed a face lift the chrome neer the platform is a bit dull but i really cant afford to have it re chromed.... but to the subject just take your time and use clearcoat over the stuff you paint and it will look ok but take your time
