Re: Any interest in a Comp 2 style tire in skinwall?

Yes thank you will for considering making these tires and getting our input .....Would you by chance know if the tioga comp st, comp ramp, comp pool, or comp stadium molds are still around ? And if so have you considered making a run of any of these freestyle tires ? There are alot of freestyle bikes in need of these tires.

Probably a no in skin wall on these. But on another note I picked up a pair of your 26 inch snake bellies cst tires and they are awesome. I  would love to see them in colors and also in 24 inch.  I am  sure others would agree.

Get a few of the retro bike manufactures involved, other retro part sellers, pool the money for new tooling, and there you have it.

Re: Any interest in a Comp 2 style tire in skinwall?

Stoner...hahaha, sounded dickish, didn't I?
Hahahaaa...
Yeah, I'm about the semantics, and it can be overbearing...
SO, Guru...I LOVE and appreciate your work.
Champ26...HONESTLY? Making the molds will be a herculean task.
THAT is some damn work, and money. I don't know Guru, but let's say, he'd have to sell a metric shyte ton of tires to even break even.
I recreated molds for skateboard wheels, and let me tell you, that ain't SQUAT compared to a tire like this. The skate thing was an ORDEAL...so, this will be MONUMENTAL.
I love the Comp II. Actually the one Guru suggested looks like a fine tire, but the deep feelings w our memories, and our retro pickiness would shoot down anything referred to as a Comp II or substitute before it even had a chance, just on an emotional note. It would have to BE a Comp II.
I was just speaking w a friend about repopping these not two days ago.
Your thought is ON THE MONEY, though...a Comp II that could hold 55 PSI...so you could also roll it on the street at speed...HOT.
Thanks for doing all the stuff you do, Guru...you are doing the work of the BMX GAWDZ!!
THANK YOU, SIR.

I'm in if they look as close to possible to the Mitsuboshi Comp IIs from the late 70s/early 80s.

I'd love to see colored snakebellys too. Something unavailable that I know of right now is a yellow skinwall. A lot of Kuwahara guys need those

Re: Any interest in a Comp 2 style tire in skinwall?

i personally like the tire. but only if it was a skin wall. its close enough to the comp2 but still new enough design to be current and look close enough to the comp2 for riding.

you will always have those that will insist on the og thing. but for riding and using purposes, it think they would sell pretty good.

deffinatly in colors as well, and deffinatly for the 24s. finding a variety of tires for the 24s isnt all that great for any era! and if ya want a skin/gum wall it makes it even less to choose from.....and color....well we all want color!

i say go for it!!

I sure wish I could get some 16" tires with that tread on them for my pit bike.   Not a big fan of the sqare-ish knobby 16" Kenda's or 16" comp 3's.

Re: Any interest in a Comp 2 style tire in skinwall?

Ok, I guess I need to clarify some more on what I mean when I say the OG molds are gone. Any OG mold that resembles the Comp 2 is either destroyed, lost, hidden, or owned by a company that is not currently producing tires. If new molds were made, they would not be identical to the Mitsuboshi stuff, it simply can't be the same unless Mitsuboshi made them and they are not currently producing bicycle tires. They are making belts, lots of belts. The vintage bmx market is very small and the cost of new molds would be near impossible to recover. If the money were spent and new mold produced, most guys would not buy them unless they were spot on replicas (which again is near impossible). So here we are back to the original question. Would you be interested in the tire in the photo at the beginning of this tread if it was a skinwall and available in colors? I think the answer has been mixed with most people saying no.

Those are the Tioga Factory MX and they are very similar in appearance to the tires that I suggested and the Powerlite Retros
