Any interest in a Comp 2 style tire in skinwall?

Ok so the problem is simple, the solution is not. I get lots of people asking for a comp 2 style tire with rectangular knobs but the OG comp 2 type molds are gone. CST has a mold that is current that is similar in style. Would any of you guys be interested in this tire in a skinwall, maybe colors? What do you think?

Remanu the OG molds.
Yeah, it sounds crazy.
You may have to get wound up in tooling and all kinds of stuff...

Re: Any interest in a Comp 2 style tire in skinwall?

ok, you changed the original picture, is that the same tire as the other?
the knobbie pattern itself is ok but the texture on the knobs and the groves in the smooth part of the tire is what I considered fugly.

I love your tires, but I'll pass on those. Maybe Will is right, tho. Might look better as a skin wall smile

Re: Any interest in a Comp 2 style tire in skinwall?

It's not a "Comp II".
So, I think the discussion is....
"Do y'all like this tire?"

Thats why he stated it as a Comp II style tire, not a Comp II tire. He clearly stated the OG molds are gone. Clearly stated this tire is similar.  Hes looking to see of theres any interest for those that like the older school tires.

Well, that settles it. This is not a winner. I thought that I would ask since it has a very retro feel to it.

Re: Any interest in a Comp 2 style tire in skinwall?

The tire you have pictured does not look like a comp II. If you could get an actual comp II copy in skinwall I think it would sell very well. And be sure to make 26" sizes!
This is what a real comp II tire looks like:

Re: Any interest in a Comp 2 style tire in skinwall?

See what it would take to have comp II molds made....If you could make a replica comp II skin wall  in black, blue, red, and yellow...You would sell tons I would buy several pairs. That is the all around favorite old school race tire, and are extremely expensive and hard to find.

Re: Any interest in a Comp 2 style tire in skinwall?

We all know what the Comp 2 looks like, the question was whether the pictured tire would be something worth making. It has a similar vibe to the Comp 2 but the spacing between the knobs is bigger. The market for Comp 2 tires is a very small one and I doubt that enough could be made to offset the cost of new molds. I just wanted to know if anyone liked the tread of the tire in the photo.
