1988 Auburn

I built this bike for my wife to ride with me. The days of dirt jumping are probably over for me, but if it gets us out of the house doing something together that's great. Here it is with white high flange GT race lace hubs, Araya 7X rims, white GT seatpost, sugino 3 piece cranks, and it has GT bars and fork. I'm assuming this is because it was either the first year or one of the first years Auburns had been out. She also rides nice and tight like it was new! I've thought about painting it, but haven't ever seen these sticker. Anyone know where I can get them?

Re: 1988 Auburn

Sorry rlowride, but I didn't see this until yesterday. I was beginning to this if you didn't have a freaking freestyle GT with tuff wheels around here you weren't kool!
Here's the pictures of my original stickers below.
I would like to ask your serial number though? Mine's 1188XXXX, whick tells me November of 1988. I'm still wondering why I have GT bars, neck, and forks. It also had one piece GT cranks and sproket with a white chain. It just appeared to be original? I've gotten no help with this. I was racing back when we had Stingrays, and bought my first Auburn at 30 and realy wasn't into the details like a kid would've been.
Also, any help with color would be appreciated. I squirt PPG on most everything I paint. It's expensive out here in California, but well worth it after all the time and effort.
I'll buy a set of the those stickers if you can get them made, and or find them. Just let me know the cost and I'll get it to you.

Re: 1988 Auburn

mr Willys.... when the Auburns first came out... All it was , was a F/F i believe.... everything else was GT parts...
then eventually GT bought it.. aquired it.. what ever the case may be..

I dont know the exact start
but my numbers are
11880007..

nov. 88 #7...
I am Kinda happy to have this one...
I actually owned this bike as a kid... the exact one.... had still hanging in my Aunts garage...
As far as colors....
the original ones were the red like mine and yours... dont know the exact...
White .. and black.. and I believe there was a blue... and a kawaski style green...
again.. dont qupote me, because i am not positive..

I dont think i have the 7th frame..... but i find it hard to believe that Auburn may have made 5000 or so frames in November 88..
but again.. i cant be positive on any of it...

Re: 1988 Auburn

It's good to here you've had yours since it was new. I bought a 1990 in march of that year which came in blue with all white trim and wheels just like the ones I've built for this. Here's a picturee of my dropout number 11880175.

I've bought two of these to replace the stolen one for the wife and both to ride. She get's the better of the two, of course.
