1978 Delta Racing Products Pro

'78 Delta Pro - redline v-bars, tuff neck, bullseye hubs, note the Powerlite top pad.  Paid $600 for it in Dec '78

Delta was a short lived company that sponsored Denny Davidow - who I thought was really cool - so I had my bike shop find me a DRP frame and build it up with money I saved from my paper route (I was 14). The bike was incredibly light. The head tube was so steep, that the steering was way twitchy. Finally had to put on a pair of Jimmy weinert forks which had the most rake I could find to keep the wheel for turning in on berms.

Re: 1978 Delta Racing Products Pro

those old school frames had some serious front rake angles. you got a nice bike there. i used to save all my paper route money to buy parts for my bike as well. you gotta do what you gotta do.

That is a very nice bike. It doesnt even look like a late 70's bike. From the picture it looks like a mid 90's.

Re: 1978 Delta Racing Products Pro

Well done on the restoration. The only comment I have is that there is no way DREP's would have that many spokes. Actually Dirk Dwaidow was the first to ride a DRP with 12 front wheel spokes.

Re: 1978 Delta Racing Products Pro

I have been riding mountain bikes with the Davidows for the last three years.

I found one of these frames (#61) in an old box of Trophies. I have bought some stuff in an effort to rebuild it. I need to get a second AND THIRD job to be able to afford the parts now!! LOL Vintage Campy cranks and hubs are really pricey

Beauty. That's a rare bike. They were ahead of their time.
