1982 Diamond Back Silver Streak

This is another one of the bikes that roamed the streets in my neighborhood BITD. I secretly always wanted one as a kid, but wouldn’t get one because I was a die hard "GT Man".

**SOLD**
While resting and recuperating after a couple of laps at The Feast in the Southeast, me and Raymond (radline08) were talking about some of our next projects. Someone said something about a DB and CLICK, the proverbial light bulb came on. About two weeks after the Feast, 2DR_sedan posted a DB F/F for sale. So I quickly jumped on it. Then I got a part here. And a part there. And viola. She's now finished. She's pretty much era and spec correct. I wouldn't mind getting a set of Dia-Compe 890's (which came stock) but the 901's are my favorite brakes from BITD.

Still trying to decide if I want to install them or not. I'd hate to "waste" them by putting them on. But I'd also hate to "waste" them by letting them sit there. hmm

Now I just need to find some pedals and some dust caps.

Re: 1982 Diamond Back Silver Streak

Very very nice, I've just added your bike to the retrospectBMX.com gallery.

Wish I had never sold my SS crankset as I've just luckily purchased another Silver Streak frameset.

I might have a spare set of Black 890's going smile

Mark

Re: 1982 Diamond Back Silver Streak

Hey guys
I'm new to this
I had a bike like this once and was thinking of putting one together or buying a whole bike.
What do you think it would set me back to put one of these together?

Thanks
Spot

Re: 1982 Diamond Back Silver Streak

Great bike... back then.. each kid had a different bike and the bike kind of represented that kids personality. I rode redline, my best friend had a team mongoose. I never liked the kid that rode the Diamond back... smile The coolest kid in town had a PK Ripper. and the uncool kids had Team Murry... why am I going on about this I don't know... the Bike looks Great.

Re: 1982 Diamond Back Silver Streak

Sweet Build!  I got mine in 82 when I was 11 and from what I can remember your Silver Streak is perfect down to the pads!  Thanks for the trip down memory lane.  This new Hobby is going to going to get expensive.  hmm
