Re: 1976 Webco Monoshock Team Replica

Double gusset monoshock!  Very cool!  The saddle looks like a Brooks or other high-end piece.  Nice, whatever it is.  You definitely scored.

Fork and crank are both Ashtabula and the stem is likely an Ashtabula made Schwinn.

Definitely a '76.  '75 monoshocks were single gusset.  Also the Replica model is a hardtail, this is just called a monoshock (without a model name) but much more rare than the Replica.  I've never attempted a count, but I believe there to be less of the double gusset monos than the single gussets.

All I can say is WOW! That is a great (pre) old school find. coolcool

There are days when I'm amazed by the knowledge of people on this site. Today is one of those days. There should be a sticky under the "name it" or "restoration" forums to contact the folks who are manufacturer specific experts smile

Don't know how. I missed this one. Great find. Clean it up and don't change a thing.
I wish mine where in that shape when I found it.

Re: 1976 Webco Monoshock Team Replica

My first race bike, awesome bike and still looking for one that I don't have to mortgage my house for. Great bike and fun to ride, most people in the day raced these with Kinlins or CMC heavy spoke rims or Motomags. I had Kinlins on mine back in the day with old fashioned waffle grips that I still think are under rated. I used Mongoose cranks with sugino chainwheel on mine. Already a favorite. Nice bike

Re: 1976 Webco Monoshock Team Replica

The more I get (back) into the BMX bikes, the more I love seeing the older, more unique rides.   Thanks for sharing.   And I agree, don't change anything!   big_smile
