1977 Matthews
1977 Matthews
1977 Hardtail
1977 Matthews frame LRV fork (LRV is the company that made Matthews), Schwinn Box Bars, Tange Grips, Ashtabula Stem, KKT Rat Trap Pedals, Stamped Ashtabula Crank, Three-Arrows 44t sprocket, Wald Bottom Bracket, Mesinger Seat, Unknown chrome seatpost, Wald Clamp, Morris Mags, Cheng Shin tires, Styria chain.
Most Matthews hardtails I've seen had chrome cranks. I choose the black Ashtabulas for a little contrast to the already chromed out bike.

Re: 1977 Matthews
Actually the bike is an LRV Moxie. LRV made Matthews but had started marketing the bikes as Moxies by 1977.

Re: 1977 Matthews
This is exactly like my first BMX bike frame. It was a Matthews Moxie with a bunch of basterdized parts from other bikes. All completed, it looked almost exactly like your bike. Only it had the moxie stickers on it and cheapo leatherette pads, but I also had the Tuff Wheels on it. Nice!
I cracked my frame doing an endo against a tree and had it welded down the street by a guy who really wasn't a bike welder. It lasted me a good long time and took a lot of beatings. I can't remember what I did with the frame.

Re: 1977 Matthews
I have a frame just like this only painted and it has the original decals with a LRV headtube decal and the Moxie decals. i've also seen the same frame with a matthews decal, so it could be either. nice build monster.
