1984 Univega Pace Aero

Pretty complete original 1 owner from new

This was my mates bike he got when he was 12 and has sat at his dad house for 25+years.
He just turned 40 so I decided to restore it for a present ( he did not know I was doing it).It was basically a wreck, the seat post was welded to the frame and there was more rust than paint. However it is basically complete as at the time of purchase. The frame is Anlun stamped.Brakes are Chang star (original)Wheels are skyway OE (original)Seat is Dyna viscount (original)Head stem is Univega branded (original)Univega pads, however the foam was perished (washed the nylon but very flimsy and replaced the foam)Handgrips (original)Handle bars (original)Cranks ( original)Pedals ( original )
- The parts which couldn't be salvaged are as follows:Seat post (ebay replacement )Chain (bmx chain from LBS)Rear sprocket (ebay replacement)Brake cables ( eBay replacement)Brake shoes ( SkyWay pads)Head set ( ebay replacement)Bolts for brake calipers ( local universal fasteners )Tyres ( kenda ) Seat clamp ( ebay replacement)
The bike was white when his dad bought it, so I re sprayed the bike in 2k white.

Nice work. Saw this on the front page and I dig the lines. You made some great choices.

Get those seat guts in the right way! tongue

Very nice frame finish given the starting point.  And huge Karma points for bringing a buddy's old bike back to life.  Way cooler than just restoring some eBay score.  Wish I had more friends like you!
