Sorry to burst your bubble but i picked up a starfire that has never been assembled too! Serial number starts with T3 and the bottom bracket cups are pressed in but no headset cups are in it.I picked it up from the father of an old norco team rider. it has some shelf wear on the sticker but other than that , its mint!  I can't figure out how to post up some pics of it. so i'll just add it to my bikes list.

I got it in Nanaimo B.C. at the local Bmx track. I run a local bmx team here and the Nanaimo bmx club holds a swap meet every April during the races. I was walking to the moto shed to register myself and my son when i saw this old guy setting up some saw horses and plywood. On my way back to our pits a pair of shimano dx pedals caught my eye and i stopped to talk to the old guy. As we chatted i noticed this Norco frame and had to grab it! He said his son used to race for Norco back in the day and this frame was just sitting ,collecting dust, was his that he never put together. I also missed out on a GT frame that he had.
trying to upload to photo bucket as we speak.. pics to follow.

Lol! No worries about bursting my bubble, I'm just stoked to see that another NOS Starfire has been found! And in Nanaimo!! Soooo close! yikes Were you lucky enough to get the ARX forks? It looks to be in excellent condition! I too wish the pics were bigger as well, just to check it out better. It's crazy what you can still find at the local tracks. I've seen a few rare gems show up occasionally, while I'm at our track with my son. Great score, and thanks for sharing it!! big_smile

Re: NOS Norco Starfire Found…

Wow that Norco frame looks a lot like an NOS Ross frame I have. The top tube measures 19" on the Ross. http://uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/207817/image56a308e460.jpeg

Jedi101 do you and your son race? I run a team here in Nanaimo and we come over for the nationals all the time. I didn't get the forks but i do have an 83 univega aero with trx forks.

Re: NOS Norco Starfire Found…

Nice Ross Piranha Shotgun! It does have similar dropouts and rear triangle. But what makes the Tange manufactured frames, like the Norco Starfire, so special is the cool "teardrop" shape Aero tubing! It's hard to capture in photos, but looks very distinct in person. Thanks for the comparison pics!

I don't race anymore taekrondo, but I do like to participate on practice days, and help out on race days. My son has been racing for 3 years now, and we try to visit as many tracks as we can during the summer.  The Nationals is a great event! We went 2 years ago. Just curious if the Univega Aero has the same length head tube?

Re: NOS Norco Starfire Found…

No the univega head tube is alot shorter. It is tange made as well, great welds and tubing. How old is your boy? My son now races 12 expert. you guys should come over and try the island tracks.

The Ross has the teardrop shaped tubing as well. It looks very similar to my '84 Laserlite which makes me wonder if the Ross is Tange made, or a very good copy.
