A) Race Inc RA-8, 1981 B) Another RA-8, 1982/83 C) Pro-Size Race Inc with FMF style dropouts, 1979/80 (now thought to be a Raliegh Rampar, with fresh paint and incorrect stickers.)  D) Race Inc/ SE racing Frankenstein with PK Ripper serial number, and threadless, (SPANISH?) bottom bracket. (If any of you have any info on this frame, let me know! ! !) Year unkn. E) Another RA-8 with NOS Chromo Race Inc forks. 1981 F) SE Racing PK Ripper Looptail, 1983 G) SE Racing PK Ripper 1st-run 2nd gen, with straight chainstay. Early 1985 H) Race Inc. RA-7 with Cycle Pro top tube. 1979? I) Race Inc.-built Laguna GT with FMF style dropouts. 1979

Re: 1980 Race Inc.

Falanga, He bought four or so from me recently. PKRedline. The Foiler tubed frame is a RA7 not a RA8. The RA7 was Race Inc's original pro sized frame. Post pics of that "one off" frame with the PK serial number, if you would.

Re: 1980 Race Inc.

Another question. If these are your "favorite frames", why are all of them on Ebay for sale?????? The frame with the PK serial number is a Race Inc RA9. The rarest Race Inc out there. Same as the RA10 but with a one inch shorter top tube. As far as the PK serial number... Its the same dropout used on all the PK looptails so he still had some laying around in late 83 when this frame was built. These RA9 and RA10's were only made for a short time in late 83 and 84 before Race Inc went under. SE took the PK "in house" in 82, so Bastian must have had dropouts still around or needed some and got some from Scot. Post better pics of that frame, with the top tube length.

Brian:

1st: Please note: I never tried to promote ANY of them here. Nor will I, even if it means pumping-up the price on a frame.

2nd: I said a "few" of my faves, and not ALL of them are for sale. But to answer your Q: I have picked-up a few sick SE Racing frames, and a few more Race Inc items. Will photog them soon. Some of them cost me a leg. I also lost a Cycle Pro "Foiler" in the mail, and I have to fight UPS for the insurance, so I need $$$ to cover that loss for now.

I am going to build the "RA-9" with the "PK" serial on the dropout. It's pretty sick. You're right; it has an inch shorter tube than the RA-10. I just can't figure out why it's a got threadless, "Euro" or Spanish bottom bracket? Seems like a real oddity. I picked it up on thEbay a few months ago, right before I bought those frames from you.

Like anything else, it's a hobby. I am in an SE / Race Inc phase right now. I am very fond of the rare, JU-6 and SB frames, but also any Race Inc oddities which I come across. SO I buy a s#*tload of them, and keep the ones I want to build/hang-up. Why does it matter if I buy/sell/trade? Am I supposed to hang all of them up for good, and never get any new stuff?

I am keeping the blue RA-8 I got from you with the FMF head tube gusset, and the complete gold RA-7. I even bought a fresh VX crank arm for it. I wish I had seen the RM2 when you re-listed it, but I missed it. I don't have any chromo Race Incs, and that one would have been a killer rider. I'm too fat for aluminum! Lol.

I pick and choose a few to keep, and if someone wants to pay top $ for the ones I don't "really" want to sell, all the better. More bikes for me!

Don't make me bust-out my chromo crank collection...

...Happy New Year!

Re: 1980 Race Inc.

Brian, a question: What is the model of the white frame I have ? RA-6?

It's aluminum,of course, and has an 18.5" top tube from center to center.

Re: 1980 Race Inc.

Joe, there is no such thing as a RA6. There was a RA7 (pro frame with gussetts) RA8 (mini frame with gussetts) RA9 (expert frame with no gussetts) RA10 (pro frame with no gussetts) RM1 & RM2 (Chromoly frames) and RA24 (24"cruiser frame). I was gonna send you an email about that white frame but didn't want to butt in. That frame WAS obviously made by Race Inc but WAS NEVER sold under the Race Inc name. All those expert size frames with gussets (bigger than RA8 and smaller than RA7)(your white one) were only EVER sold as Laguna's and Raleigh Rampars. They were never sold under any Race Inc name or with Race Inc decals.

I wasn't hammering you. I was just asking. I've seen alot of guys stir up interest about their frames on all the boards to bait everyone for the sell on ebay. I was just wondering because not two weeks after you bought all those frames from me, you had 2 or 3 of them back on Ebay for considerably more than you paid. Your business, not mine. Just curious.

As far as the RA9, send me pics. I'm confused by the BB. In 83 the only two BB's available were threaded Euro and STD American.

Re: 1980 Race Inc.

The serial on the white  bike is: RA21045. Does that make it a Raleigh Rampar?! Neat.

Joe M.

ps - - I'll get pics up asap with the PK serial Ra9 type frame.

Re: 1980 Race Inc.

No, the RA serial number is for a Race Inc frame, but that just means Bastian used the Race Inc dropouts on it. I have seen Rampars with the RA serial dropouts but have never seen a Laguna with a stamped dropout, so my guess would be that it was originally stickered as a Raleigh Rampar.

So, that makes the year of this frame 197_?

I looked-up Rampars, but only found a bunch of ugly old cruiser-type frames. Peace. -- joey

Re: 1980 Race Inc.

No way to tell. The serialnumbers mean nothing, but let me see if I can find a pic with Rampar decals. I've got one here somewhere. You are right though, most of the rampar stuff was cheap steel frames.

So...this one goes in the "keeper" pile! Lol! It must be "rare," if that even means anything for a Bill B. creation.

Yeah, shoot me some pics of the Rampar stickered frame if possible.

I meant to take pics of the "RA9?" I have this weekend, and post some, but I have been triple busy.

Will post soon.

Peace.

WOW! Look how close that serial is to mine. You hit it on the head, Brian. Rampar.

I'm gonna email SERACINGDUDE, or whoever I bought this from, and tell him his "reputable collector" was not quite accurate.

Not that it bothers me having a Raleigh in the collection, but those decals are gonna be a beotch to locate...

OH!-- Did you see those Nomura Replica frames on eBay with no reserve? They end Sunday night! (seller =  gotmyfreakon) I'm sure you already have a few of them, though.

Thanks for the photos!

Must not be many "Rampar" labelled Race Incs around, eh?

Good thing nobody bought it.

Re: 1980 Race Inc.

Good luck finding decals for that. If that frame came from SERACINGDUDE, I'm not sure it's not one of mine. I've sold and bought some Race Inc stuff from him. Either way, it's a nice frame. Wish I had all the Race Inc, Lagunas, Foilers, FMF's back that I've sold in the last two years (36 that I can recall).

It's been painted at a body shop. The paint is almost flawless, except in one very small spot, but I am afraid to peel the stickers, since paint and aluminum are not the tightest of friends.

I see a lot or the "R" rampar decals around, but no downtube decals.

I think I'll keep the Race Inc decals in place, as it is basically a Race Inc, anyway. If I et a good set of repros, I'll have them done on a white sticker, to cover the Race Inc decals without f'in up the frame.

If you come across another Foiler in good shape, shoot me a message.

I am bummed about that one I bought from Pat.

Contact me through eBay, and I'll give you my number. I'd like to talk to you about the Foiler situation...
