2004 Haro Freestyler

2004 Haro Freestyler

When I was a kid I always wanted a Haro Master.  Now I have one... with new school amenities.

There's not much to say about this bike yet as it's still stock.  My plan is to ride it daily until the horrible Saskatchewan winter comes and then make some changes to give it a bit more of an old school vibe.  So far I have to say that the bike is totally solid and overall is the nicest bike I've ever owned.  The front and rear 996s are amazing when they're dialed in, and I like the bars a lot more than I expected to.  The only things about the bike I don't think are top notch are the black seatpost (jeez why not go with chrome or white?) and the pedals (they work fine and are light but just seem kinda cheap). I've also slowly been adding in parking lot sessions with decades, boomerangs, tailwhips, McCircles, and other simple tricks, and the bike feels great to play around on.  I last rode seriously in 1990 (at the age of 16) so it's going to take a while...

As you can see, from my profile, I really like these bikes also..Good to hear your riding it. I was going to switch up some of the parts on mine for riding. The bike rides so solid and I was able to pick up most of my tricks from back in the day also, like framestands, fire hydrant, Mc circles. I hope to ride it alot in the next few months..

+2 on these bikes. I'm big on the blammo style frames and completes. These are the coolest revision IMO,
It's cool that you're riding it. The  collectability  factor is what made me get a Mirra pro of the same year.

Re: 2004 Haro Freestyler

The more I ride it the more I like it.  It just feels right if that makes any sense.  I bought a chrome 25.4 laidback seatpost off the bay that's in the mail.  It's one of the new style posts so it has the mounting hardware and only a slight laid back.  I really need a quick release seatpost clamp too I think.  I am just too old to go for long cruises with the seat slammed, but it's gotta go down a lot lower if I'm ever going to learn hang fives.  I'm not the biggest fan of these tires either and I think I'm going to pick up some high pressure tires with a better flatland tread.  That's not urgent though.

Last weekend I bought my 8year old a Haro too: an electric blue 18" F18.  They are basically the perfect intro street/freestyle bike for a little kid, and so now I have a partner in cruising around town and jumping curbs and banks and stuff.  My wife got jealous of this and so she's been riding her old cruiser too.

Re: 2004 Haro Freestyler

The bike's holding up great; a little bit of top tube paint scuffing and that's about it.  I've ridden it probably 4days/week since I got it; it's the most solid bike I have ever owned.  I really don't think you could break it.

I updated the main picture to show the changes I've made to the bike:  chrome layback seatpost and white ACS true100 tires.  I think it looks much nicer now, and I really have a more comfortable ride with the new seatpost too.

I still plan to do some work this winter: green brake cables all around (it may be hard to find green 1 1/8 upper rotor cable though) and I'm repainting the brakes to either blue/green or blue/turquoise for the 990s.  I might put chrome profile cranks on the bike too instead of the black haro ones; not sure.

I'm thinking about mixing mime up to, to make it a bit different... These do ride awesome.. Cant' help but scratch up that top tube.. My frame stands and front wheel tricks, I put my foot up there alot.. So my white paint is coming off, but hey,, i'm having fun with it..

Re: 2004 Haro Freestyler

black seatpost?  didn't notice at 1st but wow you're right.  probably to match the cranks, headset, brakes, etc.  (contrast with the white)
