Re: 1987 Skyway StreetBeat
For the guy who wanted a Streetbeat frameset here's a link to the Vert-Ego website. They have them but they are not cheap. http://www.vert-ego.com/main.htm
As for the date, you may be right but I bought the frameset from AlansBMX.com and he had dated them as being from '86. The guy has had a BMX shop since the early Eighties so I just took his word on it...

Re: 1987 Skyway StreetBeat
I think that frame may be a Street Scene, not a Street Beat. Did you buy it with the decals on it already?
It's a super nice Skyway.
Both thumbs up on the build!

Re: 1987 Skyway StreetBeat
The f+f was a NOS set so the paint and decals are original Skyway. I much prefer this model to the MK1 as it has round tubing with knurled sections for when you're climbing around on the bike. The standing platform is also improved and it looks better proportioned than a MK1 for some reason. Maybe it's because the MK1 used a T/A style downntube and seatmast - T/A tubing looks amazing... on T/As but the MK1 just looks too thrown together for my liking. A bit of teardrob/oval tubing on the rear stays may have helped:/. Was this just a way to use up some T/A tubing that was left over?
Vert-Ego.com still has a NOS chrome and black MK2 Beat for sale, the same as this one. It 's £200 + shipping but if you want one of these and have some $$$ burning a hole in your pocket, I say go for it:)
