1987 General Osborn Pro

The first General Bicycle in Brazil! It's a Hustler Pro customized to look like the General Osborn Pro and enjoy some modern technology too.

A bike that Brazilians never had an opportunity to buy.

During the 80s the Brazilian government didn't allow the importation of products, so the lucky riders who could travel abroad were more concerned in bringing GTs and Haros. I just couldn't believe it when Risly agreed to send the frame and fork abroad (he was somewhat worried about the whole process). The painting was awful and lots of rust needed to be removed before chroming. The white part is powder coated, so I think this piece of art is better protected to survive for many years.
Sorry for not assembling it with original parts. As a Hot Rod fan, I love customizing things. Besides, it would be too expensive for a bike that will be used as a daily rider.
Obs: The original fork is brand new, perfectly chromed and kept in my closet so that I can assemble it on the bike if I consider not riding her as much as I want.

Frame:
General Hustler Pro - 4130 Chromoly main tubes (990 studs and cable guides welded by a TIG weld professional at the best position to keep the wheel as close as possible to the seat tube)
Fork:2006 GT Performer (4130 Chromoly without any logos on the dropouts)
Handlebars: Dyno Pretzel
Stem: Affix
Rims: Alex DM24 48 (chromed)
Hubs: Somax Track sealed adapted to receive an ACS Crossfire 13T freewheel (rear) and Joytech sealed 48 (front)
Brakes: Dia-Compe AD 990 (front and rear) with Dia-Compe MX99 levers (my favorite)
Cranks: Redline Flight Cranks with a 36T sprocket modified to look like the original Peregrine
Pedals: Atom Lab 'General' Issue
Tires: Panaracer HP 406 - 1.75 (mandatory)    = )

Lots of adaptations, but everything working perfectly!

Now that it's posted, I can ride her carefully, but with no remorse.

Thanx for visiting!

Great job!
You got me thinking about getting some welding down to put center pulls under my hustler frame..... just when it seemed a project was done......
