1969 Western Flyer Fast One

"Dark Horse 2" - New Wheels! Muscle bike

Early muscle bikes were kinda the basis that BMX was born from so I thought I'd share this one.
The 4th picture is how I found this bike, as you can see it took LOTS of work.
Parts list
Frame: 1969 Western Flyer - Fast one with all tabs and brake plates shaved and rear dropouts cut 1/2 inch deeper (To make clearance for the tire)
Fork: Triple tree from some mountain bike I think it was a Mongoose with the legs shortened 4 inches
Handlebars: Schwinn Mini-apes
Sprocket: Schwinn "Lucky 7"
Tires: 20x3 West Coast Chopper rear and 1.75 Schwinn Brick tread front
Wheelie bar: made from 2 sissy bars and some roller blade wheels
Wheels: Safe-lite mags
If you are interested there is a build thread on RatRodBikes just look me up (Outskirtscustoms) and search for the bike's name "Dark Horse 2" named after the Stone, Woods, and Cook Dragster that inspired the build.

Kinda but the center tubes all run through the upper shell so there is no way to install a crank in there. It originally had cover plates but they are a P.I.T.A. to find.

Re: 1969 Western Flyer Fast One

Well I recently got this bike back on a trade and had to put some new wheels on it. I think they look MUCH better. What you guys think?

The wheelie bar is rad, but you might need a 'chute to pass nhra tech. Love it.
