1981 SE Racing P.K. Ripper

Purchased from a local legend

I purchased from the original owner. Said he rode a couple of times when new, but did not like the parts it came with.
He pulled it apart and bought all new gear. He put a few parts on hand tight, other parts were in original packs/bags.
He never rode it again. It sat in his attic ever since..... until recently!
It had years of dust & a fair bit of house paint spatter when I got it. The original decals were just beyond saving.
Apart from the fork decals, everything is the real deal, NOS.

Frame: '81 PK Ripper T6 alloy, forks: unstamped Landing Gear.
Brian Scura 'Dirt Skirt', Hatta MX-100 alloy headset.
Tuffneck 'Patent Pending' stem, SE Racing power wing bars, 'SM Racing' ODI Mushroom grips, SE donuts.
DC MX1000 caliper, Skyway pro-fin pads, Haro lever, DC cable.
Sugino 'Maxi Cross' cranks, Shimano DX pedals, Izumi chain.
UKAI shiny-side speed stripe HE rims, Suzue flip-flop hubs, hand cut SS spokes, Shimano 16t/Suntour 15t freewheels.
Panaracer 'Knarler Knobby' tyres, 'ultra-lite' tubes, factory SE Racing washers, Acorn wheel nuts.
SE Racing snap on pad set.
Suntour seat clamp, SE Racing Troxel seat post, Elina 'lightning bolt' seat.

Finally back to her former glory!

With as little use as the bike got, how were the original decals beyond saving?

Nice PK! Cool ride!cool

Always looking for Cook Bros. stuff, vintage SE stuff, MCS 6 bolt Super stems, and Race Inc. Leading Edge/Cycle Pro/BMX innovations 20" forks. All NOS or in very nice condition.

Re: 1981 SE Racing P.K. Ripper

The bike had been sitting for years, and got paint spatter pretty much all over it. It had been laying crank side up. Anodised and Chrome parts were no problem taking paint off. Grips, Brakes etc were in bags. Taking paint off the seat, especially on the non-gloss part was hard.. The text on the original PK Ripper decals are written on top of the backing plastic. Trying to take the paint off them without damaging the decals proved pretty much impossible sad. The Landing gear fork decals had a few pieces of lettering missing/moved out of alignment, as they always did. So, thats the story.. Cheers, Dave.

Bob Sepping: 1943 – 14th October, 2015. To the legend behind Universe Cycles, Parramatta: I thank you for your patience for all the bicycle questions I asked you in the 30 odd years knowing you, and for the stories you shared with me from your past. Take care and rest in peace.. P.S around 1/2 of my collection passed through your stores, mate.
