For Those That Want To Talk About NEW SCHOOL FLATLAND !!!

http://uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/55127/matthias-dandois-0045956700646.jpg

I am an old school rider from BITD. But now that I'm in my 40's and my son is of age I am supporting him in his quest to learn new school flatland on his new school bike. Although I have a deep collection of old school Dyno's I am shifting into the new school program. However, all the new school threads I've seen on this site focus mainly on street. I want a thread devoted to new school flatland where members can post pics of their flatland rides, videos of flatland tricks, and anything else related to the art of rolling on your front or back wheel! lol

So here's your chance. Let's get the ball rolling!

Just recently picked this frame up to build! cool

Re: For Those That Want To Talk About NEW SCHOOL FLATLAND !!!

I have kinda liked flatland to a point. I can do crazy long hang nothings if that counts lol The closesnt to a flatland frame that I have is a black eye killorado. Wanting a cheap frame, actually I have a huffy with a curved downtube. Maybe I'll mess around on that for a little, or a walgoose motivator mini frame with a really low top tube.

I do plan on buying a flatland frame here this summer. Looking at the Mankind Alive 2.0 because of the 14mm drop outs.

And this is the huffy, looks like a flatland wanabee. It will be re-welded multiple times when I'm done with it.

Re: For Those That Want To Talk About NEW SCHOOL FLATLAND !!!

Maybe you guys can help.   I saw a newish flatland flux of dudes in, I think, Japan.

One of the guys was on a chrome bike with an interesting fork up front.
The brakes where located inside the side tubes of the fork on a lever that swings and clamps down on the wheel when you grab the handle.

I have seen high end road bike with hydraulic brakes which protrude from the team so as to do away with the brake mech.  It is an internal hydro set up.

The flatland bike I saw had mechanical lever brakes sunk into the fork.

Does anyone know of these, what they are, if they are new or old, are they obtainable?

Thanks & peace.

That's a rework of the KGB Space 2 fork concept (which are pretty cool btw!)  There a thread on Global Flat about it, here's the link:

https://www.global-flat.com/smf/index.php?topic=54604.0

Neat concept, but as stated in that thread, looks like a pain to manufacture and adjust.

Re: For Those That Want To Talk About NEW SCHOOL FLATLAND !!!

Great thread.  I'm hoping to start a NS flatland build sometime this year.  At 6'5", I'm looking at the Subrosa DTT frame but probably will go with the 20.5" street as the 19" flatland frame is just too small.  (Wish they'd built the larger frames with the same downtube/gusset config as they have on the flatt frame for us taller flatlanders.)  For now though I'm still riding my OS/MS bike for flat (http://bmxmuseum.com/bikes/dyno/60081)...

I'm dumb

Think I'm gonna go with these. The new ones have removable mounts so I can go back and forth clean if I want.

Re: For Those That Want To Talk About NEW SCHOOL FLATLAND !!!

Switched last year from minimal offset to zero and it wasn't as big of an ordeal as I thought it was going to be. I run Swiss Miss bars and the offset is 28mm, but I modded them so that they are straight up instead of parallel with the fork tube.
