Re: Copper plated chopper bicycle.......etc etc etc

The copper plating is awesome.  Always thought a copper finish both clear coated and raw on a bike would look sweet.  Thanks for sharing.

Dig it!  Did you weld that up yourself?

I have a stretched out 26" pedal scraper, but the springer forks a kinda chintzy.  Some day, I'd love to try my hand and welding up a girder fork for it.  My bike is nowhere near as blingy as yours is!

Hello,  Nice build.   Where can I get custom wheels like that.  I have some Schwinn spoilers and want a few sets of rims.  Thanks, Todd.

Re: Copper plated chopper bicycle.......etc etc etc

Thanks for the very kind words, much appreciated:).  This bike started out as a "make a rider" project, but it got way out of hand and turned into a show bike project.  It is built to my body proportions for leg and arm reach, and it rides like a dream.  The frame was hand made in a jig to my design, using mild steel tubing and is fully TIG welded. The forks are styled like vintage girder forks,  I designed the spec's on them and used a FOX ProPedal shock on it.  Someone told me once that all the best kustom bikes seemed to be long and curvy. I took this as a challenge and decided to make an almost completely angular design. To show that straight lines could be just as beautiful as curved lines. The wheels were CNC cut from special 24x65mm wheel blanks (bicycle size), originally made in a limited run by the Centerline Wheel Corporation. Only about 200 blanks were made (back about 7 years ago) and I was lucky enough to get a set.  The chain is Wipperman IG8 BMX grinding chain that I had re-nickel plated.  The seat is custom made, I fabricated a fiberglass seat pan and had a motorcycle seat re-upholsterer do it with high density foam for comfort.  The rear tail light is made out of brass and looks like an antique steam whistle. The bike is completely plated and polished, with bright show copper, show chrome and 24k gold plating in areas.  The aluminum wheels were show polished.  Thanks again for the interest. It's nice to hear that people like it. Cheers

I do ride it:)
