1985 Akisu

I'm doing it for my girlfriend.

This thing took me 4 weeks to restore., but she really loves this color...so i'll have to hunt all over Singapore to look for matching colors. She loves it even more now. Its really light and they are bit rust underbeath the new paint job.
It was originall chrome but took me 2 week to remove the chrome and did all the colors, i wonder if i ride this ike people will call me sissy?

Re: 1985 Akisu

What is the serial number on your bike and where is it located?

I have this bike and the dropouts seem very similar as do the forks...

I'll buy your museum bike for $50 or less- just PM me if we don't have a deal ok?

Re: 1985 Akisu

daddy-o your bike is an Akisu made frame and forks. It could have been sold under many different brand names.
The other frames in this thread do not look like Akisu frames but do have Akisu forks.
They look like they have Giant dropouts and the geometry differs.  Akisu did supply frames for Giant bikes for some markets, often with no serial number at all, so perhaps these frames are from that period in the mid 80s.  Also Giant frames were not always stamped on the dropouts with serial numbers starting with G as many believe as they, like Akisu, supplied frames for use by many different brand names (Akisu supplied hundreds of thousands of frames to brand names all over the world ).
Many Giant frames, along with thousands of other bikes, were fitted with Akisu forks and many are often mistakenly identified as Akisu frames because the forks are stamped thus.  Giant dropouts are also similar to standard Akisu dropouts (as seen on daddy-o's bike) which may add to the confusion but when compared directly can be seen to be very different.
Because Akisu made so many frames for so many others with differing dropouts and serial numbers it gets difficult identifying Akisu frames.  Some big brand names that used Akisu frames at one point or another do not acknowledge Akisu as the frame builder which all just adds to the big confusing mess and can cause arguments with owners in some cases.

Re: 1985 Akisu

Very true Pretender. You seems to know so much about Akisu stuff. I used to have a Dyno slammer and when i took the fork out, it was stamped Akisu. Goes to show that Akisu makes frame, forks for many many brands.

I have a f/f just like daddy o's but the fork's not stamped Akisu, the rear dropouts are exactly like his and ive given up on finding out what make it was.

Thanks for the detailed input Pretender.

Hi, I have exactly the same frame in chrome with the same gussets. Do you still want another one? I have no use for this frame.
