Frame & Fork ID Help?
Hi
Can anyone help with the identity, make or model of this bike please. I aquired it in the mid 90's and it was in pretty bad condition, alot of rust etc, the serial number is M840104260, im not sure wether the parts are original tho it has a suntour style stem, does the serial number infer that its a 1984 model? any help would be appreiated, cheers

Re: Frame & Fork ID Help?
after looking through the museum bikes it seems this f&f are of asian origin, i can match the gusset and fork drop outs with other bikes but theres still no match for the rear frame dropout to correctly ID it with, hmmm :S

Re: Frame & Fork ID Help?
I think i may have found the bike make, i think its MT Racing, and possibly 'The Fox' model from around 84/85,
the bars and the f&f gusset/dropouts style are a good match, also the CMC rims and forged Suntour style stem are a match

Re: Frame & Fork ID Help?
Thanks macmania
ive looked a little further into it and it seems the 1984 Smartfox model also matches up with mine, together with the same chainwheel, seems both models were popular in the UK and Europe, the bike on the 3rd link has the serial number M840104173 and is also UK, only a stones throw from mine M840104260
all good ![]()

Hey bkr. macmania is The Guy to talk to about MT Racing Bikes. Mine is in My Attic, and I need to go up there and look at it. Shoot, maybe I mislabeled my Bike in The Museum. Appreciate The Note man, looks like you got The Info YOU were looking for. Cheers. -Merlyn
