I too have to say I've made some great relationships being in this hobby. It's not just about the bikes anymore, it's more about the relationships I've formed. However John, I think you've been mislead. Non of us like you and it's because you're such a JERK! ![]()

Re: ever since I joined this website
It's kinda weird....the evolution of it all. I got re-bit by the bmx bug a few years ago, kindof a midlife crisis thing I guess. So I come on here and stare at pics and dream about the old days and think about how cool it would be to have a few old bikes. But it was only about the bikes. Within months I've got 10-15 bikes, only a few of which are actually cool, but I"m starting to feel like a part of the community at that point, even though I mostly crept the museum. Then you become a part of the "show " and "gathering" circuit and you get to actually meet some people and show off your bikes. Then you hit a point where you realize it's not about owning or building bikes, but more about actually riding them. Then you realize that you look forward to the shows, not as much to see the bikes, but more as an excuse to hang out with some of great friends you've made, who just happen to share your love of BMX.
We've got a great bunch of guys here in the Detroit area, and our brothers in Chicago are AWESOME! There are many others I've gotten to be friends with as well, and I'm not even going to try to name them, but you all know who you are.
If you're in this hobby, and you aren't getting out and sharing rides and good times with some of the other members.......then you're missing out on what it's all about. It's like having a 55" HDTV and using a wire coat-hanger for an antennae.
Get out and ride, and take advantage of what this hobby really has to offer!
By the way....GREAT thread John

Remember....if everyone came to a bike show without a bike, it would just be a bunch of dudes standing around in a park...and that's just creepy! If you've got one, bring one. -Me

Re: ever since I joined this website
I've met a couple of tools on here. Everyone I've met in person has been awesome though. People have been awesome enough that I was willing to jump in the car and drive around 7 hours to ride BMX bikes with them when I've never met them in person. It was an experience of a lifetime. Thanks again Chromey and oldskoolpk for being so welcoming to Chris and I at the 2011 Philly ride. If it weren't for oldskoolpk I never would've got to experience the joys of PBR. I really look forward to making it to the 2013 Philly ride since I missed last year's.
