Building this Trick Star Replica, this was on the cover of the October 1984 BMX Action. This was the was my 1st BMX Magazine which sparked my interest of BMX. There are more black and white shots of this bike In the November issue.

The November 84 Issue had a story about the 1984 BMX Action tour which I used to try and figure out what parts where on the bike.

If you notice on the cover in the left hand corner(under the barcode) you can see there is another photographer, this is the shot.

From this shot I was able to make out the decal placement on the Number plate.

Another shot of Buff on the Kick Turn ramp.

From this shot what I noticed was Buff ran his brakes opposite than most of us, as you can see his front brake is on the right.

So I had this book "The complete book of BMX" its was by Bob Osborn published in 84. This looks to be Buffs first Hutch before the Trick Star and also before the prototype"Buff" Hutch that has been seen. I scanned through this to get a idea of what parts he used thinking the ones on the cover bike may not be far off.

This ad is in the inside cover of both the Oct and Nov 1984 BMX Action. Everything looks the same as the cover bike except the Frame and Fork here is chrome. The brake guard is the same and the buff guard. The buff guard is red and looks like it wraps around the fork.

I acquired this frame and fork around 1995 at a BMX contest in Greenville, NC. I actually bought it as a complete bike. This was back before any collector BMX sites etc , I just happened to always like Trick Stars and the guy offered to sell it for $100. It also had Hutch Pedals ( one which i ended up losing over the years. A hutch stem and Woody bars. The frame originally was lavender and had been spray painted black. I have held on to it over the years and always planned on making a the Buff Truck Star. I finally got it powder coated in 2009.

After I installed a bear trap headset and Odyssey Black widow Bottom bracket bearings( cause they look like the Hutch bearings. I am using Profile cranks not going spend $2 grand on cranks.

in my last post I left off the word "clamp", obviously I was polishing out the clamp. Here the bike is partially put together.
The bars are imitation Ladder bars I got a few years ago on ebay for $30 bucks.
The only Hutch Stem I have is blue .
The seat post is a Hutch I got it cheap of ebay because it had about a inch cut off. Really wanted a chrome one I just think its crazy to pay $100 for a piece of pipe.
Profile cranks form Craigslist.
Seat and Grips from Pork Chop.
Brake Levers are NOS ACS Mtn Bike Levers , off Ebay around 8 years ago for $10 bucks.
