Torker 24'/Rl20-ii 'conversion' build thread

This is a 1982 Torker 24 f/f, being built up as an Rl-20ii tribute.

C4 just did the powder, and supplied these pics.

I've been slowly collecting the parts and it should be ready in late February (when I'm back in the US and can assemble it).   Will be applying the blue square, red 'Redline' stickers like the ones below:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Redline-Proline … 4166477123

You know that metal plate in my head? I had to have it replaced because every time Catherine revved up the microwave I'd piss my pants and forget who I was for a half-hour or so. So, over at the VA they had to replace it with a plastic one and it ain't as strong. So, I don't know if I ought to go sailing down no hill with nothing between the ground and my brain but a piece of government plastic.

Well it was that or chop up my extra RL-20ii frame.  And well -- that wasn't going to happen.

More pics in three weeks ... stay tuned.

Gonna watch this.  I did a Redline John Purse 24 to RL20II conversion a few years ago for a winter build off.  It was fun.  Ill throw up a photo if you want but Im not going to clog up your thread.  I didnt have the  twin top tubes though so youre already ahead of me.  big_smile

Not for nuthin', but there are a HELL of a lot more RL-20IIs out there than there are Torker 24s.

Re: Torker 24'/Rl20-ii 'conversion' build thread

The more I think about it, the more I hate it myself.  IMO a better concept for this project would have been to find a cracked PL-24 and get to fabricating.  Twin wrap around top tubes, downtube gussets and a head tube angle change to 74 deg., and you'll really have something.  All that fab work would cost less than a Torker 24 and wouldn't ruin a rare piece of history in the process.

At least it's just a paint job.  nothing the next owner can't fix.

Let me finish it before we decide there's a 'next' owner smile

And yup, just paint ...

Oh no.  As long as you've seen it.  I was just gonna throw it up here for inspiration.  I'm anxious to see how you do with the white.  I love white bikes but cant bring myself to build one.   lol

Ha, I hate chrome, which is why I painted this one smile

Throw it up.  Maybe we'll smoke 'other' tributes out of the woodwork.
