New Skyway Tuff 2 front wheel moves side to side a little.
When pressure is applied sideways to the wheel it moves to the side a little and then it will move back if you push it or apply opposite pressure to it. I thought all the nut were tightened to it before I bolted it in. What could be goin on?

Re: New Skyway Tuff 2 front wheel moves side to side a little.
ive had many sets never had a problem but ii can see it happeneing at the factory for sure. take 2 wrenches to unlock the 2 locknuts and thread the inner nut in a thread. but be careful not to put any side load on the bearing. theres def a fine line there. then lock up the outer n ut to the inner. no big deal. if your not comfortable doing this just email ed at planet bmx, or pm him here, and im sure theyll send a replacement right out. they are very good about that. mistakes def do happen at the factory

Like the spindle threads are one offs and that the free wheel doesn't screw on far enough ![]()

Re: New Skyway Tuff 2 front wheel moves side to side a little.
Hey thanx for the reply's. I did some investigating after further thought. I took a black marker and drew an outline around both washers on both sides of the outside side of the forks. I did some flatland stunts I thought was causing the problem and then after it all moved again I looked at the markings I drew around the washers and noticed on the right side it moved over my markings. I knew then that it was the axel moving up and down and not the mags moving side to side.
The problem was I had too many washers on the inside of the forks(used to try to keep wheel center between brake) and I got grease on the outside washer from greasing the inside of fork pegs before I installed them. I guess the grease was enabling the axel to move up and down a little easier.
I cleaned the grease off the forks and took out all inside washers leaving only 1 on the outside before the peg and that solved the problem. By taking out those inside washers it allowed the forks to close in and tighten down wheel more securely.

the thread size of a new skyway sealed hub spindle is ??
it's not a 24 tpi because that's a w+nky old fit, tightens up but more than twice and it will strip, 26tpi don't fit on and its not metric ?

24tpi on the back for sure. Good question about fronts. I'm putting 26tpi's on them and after you mentioned it they do go on half way and then tighten up before it gets to the forks.
Somebody fill us in on this one.

I know that old skyways are 24tpi rear and 26tpi front.
